Batman Cosplayer Earns Guinness World Record

A Batman cosplayer will be featured in Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2017, out September 8th.

A new world record has been set -- this time by a cosplayer in a Batman suit. Earning the title for Most Functional Gadgets, creature effects expert Julian Checkley has been induced into the new Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2017. Featuring new and unique ways to earn a title, the Gamer's Edition focuses on all things gaming, including cosplay and will be available on September 8, 2016.

Julian Checkley's Batman Suit, based off the suit in Batman: Arkham Origins, has 23 function gadgets gracing its frame. Standing at 6'10 from tip of his bat ears to the bottom of his soles, the suit is made of urethane rubber. Featuring gadgets such as a Grapnel Gun, Bat Shurikens, Folding Batarang, and a Fireball Shooter, the complexity of each of the gadgets increased as the project continued. The most complex to create was the Strobe Stun Gun, in which Julian needed the help of an electrical engineer to pull it off.
