Netflix wants “Max” to make your viewing experience more entertaining.
Last year, Netflix announced that Sony’s PS3 was the most watched Netflix device connected to a television. Having a wider living room-based Netflix audience than any other device, it only seems appropriate that Netflix’s new concept would debut on the PS3. Max, as he’s called, functions as part game-show host and part program guide for users.
The video released by Netflix today shows a system closely resembling the lighthearted game You Don’t Know Jack. After starting Max up, the voice will offer a number of ways to personalize your Netflix viewing experience and find some things you may enjoy. As an example demonstrated in the video below, Max may ask you to pick between two genres–based on your viewing preferences–or offer up a surprise, mystery choice he thinks you might like.
As an avid movie watcher I spend a lot of time on Netflix. Combining this with one of my favorite games to play with my friends is a perfect match. I look forward to hoping on to Netflix and being greeted by Max.
