New Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Details Revealed

More information on the Switch exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, including a release window, is shared during a recent Nintendo Direct.

One of the surprises out of last year’s Game Awards was the announcement of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, the first game in the series in almost 10 years. During today’s Nintendo Direct, more details about the title were revealed.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order releases in July cast, with characters from The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, and more, but there is a main character that the title focuses on: the ultimate cosmic defender, Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is a 4-player game, and players can team up as they take on Thanos and his team of galactic warmasters, the Black Order. In order to stop the supervillain, these teams will need to find mysterious Infinity Stones before Thanos does, and they will venture to locales like the X-Mansion during their search.

In the process, players will level up their heroes and learn new skills, which will allow them to devastate foes on the ground and in the air with Hero Skills and each unique Alliance attack. While individual heroes will continue to get stronger through this system, teaming up for attacks is a core component of Marvel Alliance 3‘s gameplay.

For example, Hero Skills can be combined with other heroes’ moves to create more powerful attacks. Furthermore, if you combine Alliance attacks with other heroes, you can pull off Alliance Ultimate Extreme attacks and wipe enemies from the field.

There are two ways of playing multiplayer in Marvel Alliance 3: sharing Joy-Cons or using local wireless. All four players can also choose to share the same screen when playing cooperatively, or everyone can play on their own individual systems.

The game can be enjoyed with two unique camera modes. One is the normal third person camera and the other is the dynamic Heroic Camera, which zooms in and emphasizes the action taking place.

These are all of the details Nintendo has shared for now. However, expect more information as the summer release date gets closer.
