PS4 Users Having Trouble Logging into PSN
For nearly a full day now, PlayStation 4 users have reported issues with the PlayStation Network.
It seems many can't log in, which means they can't play online or access the Store. Sony has acknowledged the situation on Twitter:
We are aware that some PS4 users are experiencing login issues. We're currently looking into it and will provide an update soon.— PlayStation (@PlayStation) February 5, 2014
Sony has yet to give us an update, but we're assuming the problem is mostly benign. It could be related to firmware update 1.60, which was released a few days ago. That update enabled support for most surround-sound headsets, including Sony's Pulse and Pulse Elite Edition headsets. It's not uncommon for system patches to cause problems early on during a console's lifespan.
However, there's really no knowing what's causing this particular issue. If you're still having trouble signing in, give Sony a bit more time to figure out what's happening. Hey, play a game offline for a while... remember what that's like?
Ever since the PSN hack...
People always get antsy when there's some sort of issue with the Network. While Sony claims that nearly 95 percent of all users returned to the PlayStation fold after that infamous 2011 hack, it's always in the back of our minds. Consumers don't forget such things quickly, especially when their personal information is at risk. Still, it's important not to jump to conclusions.
