First in-game footage for KOTOR Apeiron fan project

The KOTOR fan project is looking really good, hopefully they can keep it going.

Last month, we found out that fan team Poem Studios was working on an Unreal Engine 4 remake of Knights of the Old Republic. Now, the first gameplay has been revealed; treating us to a glimpse of some of the areas present in the game. The Endar Spire, Tatooine, and Taris have never looked better; and you can really see the effort that Poem Studios is putting into the project.

One thing you might notice is that the game is set in a first-person mode. According to Youtuber MrMattyPlays, the creators are making the mod a first-person experience, although a third-person option is still available.

Should you want to keep yourself updated with the project, you can follow the creators on Twitter @apeiron_kotor. They say that they will post weekly screenshots showing what it is they are working on as well as announce when they will be live streaming their work.

Are you as excited for this mod as I am? Let me know what you think!

Hi! My name is Nick, and I am yet another kid trying to break into the world of gaming journalism. I am currently attending grad school and pursuing my Master's in Journalism. Want to know my favorite game? It's Mass Effect, but not the third one; we don't talk about that one. I am also an avid fan of any and all board games, and you should totally try Risk Legacy; it's like regular Risk but better.

I want to be excited for this, but it doesn't *look* like KOTOR. I feel like this is as much KOTOR as Unreal Engine Link to the Past is Link to the Past. The art direction isn't here, and everything looks unrecognizable from the originals. Like... if it didn't blatantly say Upper City Taris I'd be like "Is this Coruscant? Or maybe some other techno-city? Where are the giant round buildings, balcony-esque pathways, etc?"

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, and everyone could always pull the "Can you do better?" card, but it doesn't look like KOTOR. It looks like generic scenes with KOTOR location names slapped onto it.

While I agree, I'd also like to point out that this is pre-Alpha assets. They're trying to create as much content as possible right now, so I imagine we'll see a far clearer art direction once they get further down the road.
