Story of Seasons Sequel Comes West Next Year
Story of Seasons was released back in 2015 as a Nintendo 3DS title re-branding the franchise formerly known as Harvest Moon. The game is a farming simulation game and a sequel for the game is already on the horizon.
Xseed Games announced today the sequel to Story of Seasons, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, will be released some time in 2017. Trio of Towns will feature 3 towns that farmers can travel in between. The 3 towns consist of a Western-style village, a Japanese-inspired area, and a mysterious beach town. Each town comes with their own unique crops, animals and bachelors. Players can connect over WiFi to enhance the experience. These and more features will be revealed at E3 2016 and closer to the game’s release in 2017.
Harvest Moon hasn’t completely died though. Natsume announced that a new Harvest Moon title, Harvest Moon: Skytree Village, will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. There is currently no release date for the game, but it will make an appearance at E3 2016.

It's probably good to note that the Harvest Moon title is no longer being used for the "Farm Story" games translated from Japanese; it's Natsume's own games and thus not actually in the same series as the original "Harvest Moon" games, while Story of Seasons is a continuation of them under a different name and using a new localization company.
