Three New Characters Confirmed for WWE 2K17

2K has confirmed John Cena, Ultimate Warrior and Sasha Banks for WWE 2K17.

Via the painting work of Rob Schamberger, 2K has confirmed three new characters for WWE 2K17: 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior and former NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks.

Sasha will make her first appearance in a WWE console game, following a stellar in-ring year. It remains to be seen if gamers will be able to recreate her acclaimed matches with Bayley, but Sasha fans will likely be excited to play as The Boss for the first time.

Cena, on the other hand, has appeared in every main series WWE game since 2003's WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain. His inclusion comes as no surprise, but it would be difficult to argue that the game would be incomplete without WWE's franchise Superstar.

Warrior was the pre-order bonus in WWE 2K14, shortly before his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014. He tragically passed away shortly thereafter, but his legacy will live on through the newest WWE 2K offering.

Schamberger will continue to paint members of the roster as E3 week progresses. WWE 2K17 will be available in October for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

WWE 2K17’s cover star is expected to be announced imminently – perhaps as soon as E3, next week – and according to tag team champions The New Day, the athlete(s) adorning the packaging should be… The New Day.
That’s right: ace trio Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods – the latter a dedicated gamer, who has his own Up, Up, Down, Down Youtube channel – say that no one is better placed to represent WWE’s upcoming brawler than themselves.

“It’s a slam dunk: the three of us, clearly,” says Big E in an interview with our sister publication, GamesMaster. “Xavier is owning gaming right now. Plus we’ve been tag champs for over 200 days. We’re out there killing it, making people laugh, we have the power of positivity that’s infectious.”
