There comes a time, not too far into a fresh save game, that you need heavy attacks to deal with shielded enemies while out on Crusades. In this guide, I’ll tell you how to unlock heavy attacks in Cult of the Lamb and how to use them.

How to Get and Use Heavy Attacks in Cult of the Lamb

Heavy attacks let you more efficiently deal with enemies holding shields in Cult of the Lamb. While they’re good against other enemy types, too, their main use is to get past these stronger variations. You won’t be able to use heavy attacks in Cult of the Lamb immediately, though. You’ll need to unlock them first through Sermons.

How to Unlock Heavy Attacks via Weapon Mastery

Heavy attacks in Cult of the Lamb can be unlocked via a Tier 3 Sermon titled Weapon Mastery. Weapon Mastery unlocks the heavy attack for all weapon types. You’ll want to invest in it as soon as possible. Aside from dealing with shielded enemies, you’ll just want the extra versatility in your moveset.

How to Use Heavy Attacks in Cult of the Lamb

You’ll need Fervour to perform a special attack, but you need to know the button to hit in the first place. Each control scheme has a different heavy attack input, of course. Here are each of the heavy attack buttons for every controller, and keyboard and mouse.

  • PlayStation controllers: R1
  • Xbox controllers: RB
  • Nintendo Switch controllers: R
  • Keyboard: Shift

That’s it for how to unlock and use heavy attacks in Cult of the Lamb. It becomes an increasingly important part of combat as you push into deeper Crusades. Look for more CotL guides here on GameSkinny.
