How to Change the Season in The Sims 4

Every The Sims game since The Sims 2 has received an expansion introducing seasons into the game, making them mandatory purchases for most players. The Sims 4 is no exception to this rule, but you need to know how to change seasons once you have the expansion if you want to take nature into your own hands.

How to Change the Season in The Sims 4

The length of seasons can be changed in the weather settings under game options. However, the options don’t give you the choice to change seasons.

When it comes to changing seasons, you have two options:

1. Using cheats gives you a quick and easy way to adjust the season with minimal effort.
2. There’s an item in the game that can change seasons, but it requires Simoleons and a bit of effort to use. As such, we’ll cover both methods.

Changes Seasons with Cheats

Changing seasons with cheats means you need to access the console and activate cheats. Do this by:

• PC: Left Ctrl + Shift + C
• Mac: Command + Shift + C
• PlayStation: L1 + L2 + R1 + R2
• Xbox: LB + LT + RB + RT

Enter “testingcheats on” and confirm it. Then, you can enter more cheats. Make sure that you type them exactly as shown because they’re case sensitive. Here are the cheats that are specifically for changing seasons.

• Advance to the Next Season: seasons.advance_season
• Change to Summer: seasons.set_season <0>
• Change to Fall: seasons.set_season <1>
• Change to Winter: seasons.set_season <2>
• Change to Spring: seasons.set_season <3>

Change Seasons with the Weather Machine

Your second option is using Dr. June’s Weather Control Device. You find it in Buy Mode under Outdoor Activities. However, you won’t be able to use it to change the weather right away. If you have a Sim with level eight Handiness, you can upgrade the Weather Control Device with the Temporal Modifier Unit. This upgrade lets you change from the current season to any season you wish.
