Scaling back a bit, though, there are some features most players haven’t really played with in GTA Online, such as boosting cars and keeping them. It’s possible to keep some cars you steal, and our guide will tell you how to save cars in GTA 5 Online and list the best cars to save.

GTA 5 Online: How to Save Cars — Explained

Now, this might come as a surprise, but… You save cars in GTAO by driving them into a garage you own. Wow, guide over! Okay, okay, fine. The guide isn’t really over.

There are a number of ways to get a garage in GTA Online.

  • You can own an apartment with some garage space. Apartments offer two to 10 slots for a garage, and there are some very cheap six-slot options for new players.
  • Own a business with a garage. The Nightclub comes to mind first here, as does owning an Auto Shop. Both offer 10-car garages, with the Auto Shop’s being flashier and, of course, offering heists and tuning work in the same room.
  • Maze Bank and similar businesses you can buy off the Dynasty 8 Executive site offer 60 car garages at prices that are honestly pretty reasonable considering the amount of storage space, though they’re all over a million.

To save a car, you just drive it into the garage that you own. It will stay there after you leave it. The hitch is that it has to be a car you’re actually able to boost and store. Most cars can’t be stolen and saved, so you won’t be able to drive that Entity XF you found on the street into your garage to save. But there are still lots you can save.

The Best Cars to Save in GTA 5 Online

The list of cars you can save in GTA Online isn’t massive, but there are some notable options. Some of the best cars to save that you can find in GTAO are:

  • Karin Sultan
  • Sentinel XS (Particularly for PS5 / Xbox Series X|S players)
  • Lampadati Felon GT
  • Ubermacht Oracle
  • Benefactor Schwartzer
  • Ocelot F620
  • Benefactor Dubsta 2 (For offroading specifically)

The overall list of cars you can steal and keep or sell is lengthy, but these are the ones I personally recommend if you’re trying to add some cool and pretty dang decent cars to your collection. The Karin Sultan, in particular, while not flashy, can be upgraded to the Karin Sultan RS at Benny’s for just under $800,000. Despite the power in many of my other cars, it’s still one of my favorites and is well-worth it if you get a kick out of weaving through traffic.

That’s all you need to know about how to save cars in GTA 5 Online. The new content in the San Andreas Mercenaries update has given us something new to chew on, and it’s about time! Check out some of our other GTA Online guides here on GameSkinny.
