“…standing a towering 6’8″ at a whopping 350 lbs., he is the Scourge of Santa Prisca, the Villan of Venom and Breaker of the Bat… I give you LUCHADORE BA-A-A-NE!!”

Injustice: Gods Among Us starts their next Challenge Mode with a new gold version of one of the Dark Knight’s most imposing foes and occasional ally. Sporting a Pena Duro prison jumpsuit, the hellhole he grew up in, this Lucha Libre (Spanish for Free Wrestling) version of Bane wears a classic Luchadore mask and a pro wrestling style title belt, where he keeps his precious Venom serum.

Luchadore Bain’s passive ability is Feel the Pain, and he brings it.

When tagged in (*ironic pro wrestling reference*), there is a chance Bane could stun his opponent and get a 25% damage increase for 4 seconds.

…With an 18 Day Time Limit

You will have less than 3 weeks to complete the challenge and you start with 25 Challenge Credits to pay for each battle. You will need to buy more in the Shop or earn them by playing regular battles to finish all five series of challenges.

For each set of battles completed, you get a part of Bane’s wrestling gear (Mask, Spiked Collar, Belt, Venom, Boots). Once you have won all five challenges, a Gold Level Luchador Bane is added to your collection.

But, you don’t need to complete them all to win something.

  • 2 Challenges Completed – Free Bronze Booster Pack (worth 8,000 credits)
  • 3 Challenges Completed – +15,000 Power Credits
  • 4 Challenges Completed – Free Silver Booster Pack (worth 35,000 credits)

Once the Standard Challenge is completed, players can then try the Expert level version and up to Nightmare level.

To Be The Boss, You Gotta’ Beat the Boss

  • Challenge 1: Bronze Characters Only – Nightwing and Lex are my favorites for energy drain, while Deathstroke and Grundy bring pain.
  • Challenge 2: Wonder Woman Must Be On Your Team – If you have the Gold 600 Wonder Woman, consider an all-female team.
  • Challenge 3: Bronze or Silver Characters Only – I love Green Arrow’s Hurricane Bow attack, also Green Lantern and Doomsday
  • Challenge 4: Nightwing Must Be On Your Team – Silver Nightwing’s passive reduces damage 50% and Kali Fury is quite brutal when maxed.
  • Challenge 5: Flash Must Be On Your Team – Elseworld Flash is the one to have. His passive can come in very handy. Regime Flash’s speed boost can help the whole team.

From Parts Unknown

Actually, Bane’s origin is pretty well known, not counting The Dark Knight Rises revision of it. Forced to carry out the prison sentence put upon his father, young Bane was raised in a prison. But, he put the time to good use, reading nearly every book in the prison library and learning all he could from a Jesuit priest also kept there.

After Bane worked his way up to control the prisoner population, he became the subject of an experiment for a new Venom serum which granted him extraordinary strength to match is intellect.

Once free of prison, Bane comes to Gotham, having become obsessed with Batman. Bane tasks Batman to exhaustion then physically attacks him in the Batcave, leaving the Bat completely broken.

Vengeance would come to Bane from Azrael while Bruce Wayne healed,  but after their titanic struggle Bane wouldn’t always on the wrong side of the law. In time, Bane and Batman would fight side by side.
