Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Best Teams Guide

Let's go over the four of the best teams to play through Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a simple game on the surface. It’s sort of like a beat ’em up with super heroes in it. However, its RPG elements add complexity to it and keep things spicy.

One of those elements is building your team. A lot of new players and even experienced players are having difficulty getting through Infinity Trials and the main story mode because they’re using mismatched characters and don’t even know it.

That doesn’t have to be you, though. This guide will help you build the best teams, so you can slice and dice to paradise in both modes.

Stacks on Stacks of Team Bonuses

The character in MUA 3 all have different stats, abilities, and other things that set them apart from each other. Some are better suited to tank, others for melee or ranged damage, and others for AoE and crowd control.

Something else they have is their Team Bonus which can be viewed on the hero select screen by pressing L.

Team Bonuses reflect either the character’s traits or something about their in-universe origins or teams. For example, Rocket & Groot, Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax all have the Guardians of the Galaxy Team Bonus.

Building up as many Team Bonuses while picking good characters with solid abilities will give you the boost you need to make one of the best teams in MUA 3. These bonuses will increase specific stats for your whole team.

Best Teams Build #1 – Avengers Assemble

This team is one you will have access to pretty early on in the main story mode and I recommend switching to it from your previous team when you first unlock them. It consists of:

  • Captain America
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man
  • Thor

This is a team build that will give a nice boost to most of your stats and is pretty well rounded.

It has the Team Bonuses Original Avengers, Heavy Hitters, Avengers, Agents of Shield, and Big Brains. You get a boost to Strength (2%), Mastery, (6%), Resilience (2%), Vitality (2%) and Energy (4%). The only stat missing here is Durability.

You can also try swapping Iron Man for Hawkeye as he complements Captain America or you can swap Captain America for Wasp to build a team that stacks the Original Avengers buff to Mastery.

Cyclops and Colossus will have to wait until their DLC release to join this next team.

Best Teams Build #2 – Mutant Mayhem

As you can guess from the title, this team uses characters from the X-Men franchise:

  • Storm
  • Wolverine
  • Nightcrawler
  • Deadpool

Between these heroes you will have a fearsome team because of the bonuses that stack. They all have the Team Bonus traits X-Men, some of them have X-Force, some are Anti-Heroes, three have Cutting Edge, etc.. It builds up Strength (17%) and Vitality (8%) stats super high.

If you have Magneto unlocked, you can switch him out with Storm for another great team.

Best Teams Build #3 – Women of Marvel

This is a team build that will utilize the Women of Marvel Team Bonus to Energy completely. It uses:

  • Spider-Gwen
  • Black Widow
  • Gamora
  • Psylocke

It also hits Femme Fatales, Agile Fighters, Web Warriors, Ultimate Alliance 3, Martial Artists, and Cutting Edge. It will give you a boost to Strength (4%), Mastery (6%), Resilience (2%), Vitality (1%), and Energy (4%).

Keep in mind that this team relies heavily on melee combat without much tankiness. If it doesn’t fit your playstyle, you can swap out Psylocke with the Scarlet Witch for crowd control or Wasp for a little bit more Energy.
