Where to find it

Radioactive Ore can only be found if you’ve unlocked Mr Qi’s Walnut Room. Once you’ve entered the room, you’ll have the opportunity to select the Danger In The Deep quest, or the Skull Cavern Invasion quest. Having one of these quests activated will allow you to find Radioactive Ore in The Mines or in Skull Cavern. Beware, as having these quests activated unleashes a harder version of your typical monsters in Stardew Valley, so it’s good to bring a powerful weapon, food and bombs for the journey.

Why do you need Radioactive Ore?

Radioactive Ore is an ingredient for two new recipes that were introduced in the 1.5 update. As they are new recipes, they have some very cool benefits. One Radioactive Ore is needed for the Magic Bait recipe, which allows you to catch any fish, no matter the season, time or location. You’ll also need one Radioactive Ore for the Hyper Speed-Gro recipe. This fertilizer will increase growth rate by at least 33%.

Radioactive Ore and Radioactive Bars are also required to be shipped in order to unlock the Full Shipment achievement.

Extra tips

If you’re more into the combat side of Stardew Valley, it is highly recommended that you seek out Radioactive Ore. You’ll need five Radioactive Ore and one coal to smelt one Radioactive Bar. Ten Radioactive Bars can be traded to the Island Trader on Ginger Island for one Galaxy Soul. Galaxy souls are required to upgrade your weapon to its final form, called the Infinity Blade.
