Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Loot Luck Explained and How It Works

Loot Luck is a valuable stat in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Discover how it works right here.

There are a lot of new stats in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Some of them, like Loot Luck, are relatively unexplained. At face value, the stat name says exactly what it does: increases your luck with loot drops. The reality is more complicated.

In this guide to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, we’ll go over how Loot Luck works, how to increase it, and when it’s most important. Unless you’re going for something very specific in the endgame, you may not need to worry about Loot Luck.

What Loot Luck Is and How It Works in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Loot Luck means exactly what you think it means. The stat governs how good your luck is when gathering loot. In more technical terms, Loot Luck determines how often higher rarity items drop from any enemy in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

Early on, that means finding more greens and blues, then more purples, and by endgame, more Legendary-grade items as you explore and take down powerful enemies and bosses.

Ok, so more Loot Luck means more high-rarity loot drops, but that’s a bit of an oversimplification. It might also increase your chances of getting loot with better stats and abilities keyed to your class or class combination. We’ll need further testing to confirm, but it looks as if that’s the case so far.

How to Get More Loot Luck in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

While there may be gear that increases Loot Luck in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, we’ve yet to find any. Your primary way of getting more Loot Luck is through the acquisition of Lucky Dice. Scattered about the world are hundreds of floating, golden 20-sided dice (hereafter referred to as d20s).

Every time you interact with one of the 260 total Lucky Dice in the game, it rolls a d20 and adds the resulting number to your Loot Luck stat. With about 50 of the Dice I found on my playthrough, my Loot Luck ended at around 1700. I farmed several bosses for five to 10 runs and got maybe three legendaries per boss. You will need more than 50 Lucky Dice to really maximize the endgame grind.

You can also complete the Shrine to Aaron G in the final Overworld area of the game to gain a 25% flat bonus to your Loot Luck.

When Loot Luck Really Matters in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

If your only reason for playing Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is to experience the story, progression, and looting and shooting for 15-25 hours, Loot Luck won’t have too much effect on your playthrough. Going out of your way to collect Lucky Dice might grant you more powerful blue and purple items, and you might even come across a Legendary or two near the end of the campaign.

Loot Luck matters most for endgame boss grinding, Chaos Mode, and build crafting. The most powerful endgame builds require specific gear sets, items, and weapon combinations with particular perks and abilities. With the right setup, you can cut through boss health gates, skip phases, or kill raid-style bosses in a few or even a single hit.

Getting your hands on that gear currently requires you to spend time grinding Chaos Mode, certain bosses for their unique drops, and generally hitting your face against the RNG wall until you have nothing left above the neck. Enjoy!
