Harry Potter Magic Awakened opens for new players with Harry Potter getting his letter to Hogwarts. With references to him, as well as Ron and Hermione, the game seems to occur during the events of the books. So when does HPMA actually take place? Here’s the answer.
When Is Harry Potter Magic Awakened Set in the Harry Potter Universe?
When you start on a new server, you’ll be given your letter to Hogwarts by Hagrid. However, your character’s appearance is that of Harry Potter, as well as the beginning story he tells being the same as the opening for the first book. Your then whisked away to Diagon Alley where you’re introduced to wizarding culture.
This may seem to point to Harry Potter Magic Awakened taking place during the books, following their progression. A few game scenes later, you’re in the Hogwarts Great Hall with Headmistress McGonagall. That’s right. Headmistress. During her welcome speech the time frame the story takes place is clarified for us. It’s the year after the Battle of Hogwarts. Harry, Ron and Hermione are heroes as well as the others who fought to defeat Voldermort and the Dark Wizards.
Throughout your time playing HPMA you’ll see many different references to characters and events from the books. From cutscenes for cards, info during loading, or having Professor Longbottom for Herbology, the world of the books and movies is very apparent in the the game.
