Where to Find Fallout 76 Fog Crawler Locations

Fog Crawlers are hard to reliably find in Fallout 76.

Dailies can task you with killing a variety of creatures that call Appalachia home. First introduced in Fallout 4, this is where to find Fog Crawlers in Fallout 76 and how to kill them to complete your challenges. I’ve also included spawn locations and event spawns.

All Fog Crawler Locations in Fo76

There’s only one place in the wasteland where you can consistently find the oversized crustacean without pure luck or participating in and event, and that’s Carleton Mine. The caveat to this is that you have to be in the midst of, or have completed, the raider quest called Cheating Death.

If you find the mine on your own before then, the Fog Crawler won’t be present. I didn’t know this the first couple of times I searched for Fog Crawlers, and I’d say this is the most efficient way to find them. However, there are others!

Potential Fog Crawler Spawn Locations

While there’s a single place to hunt the shellfish reliably, there are multiple places they may spawn that you can check. They can randomly appear throughout the Mire and Cranberry Bog regions if you’re up to exploring. I have seen them in these locations, though again, it’s random and maybe not the best use of your time.

  • Around Pylon V-13
  • Around The Retreat
  • Braxon’s Quality Medical Supplies
  • Creekside Sundew Grove
  • Dabney Homestead
  • Tanagra Town

Potential Event Spawns

The way I most frequently see Fog Crawlers in Appalachia is during events. They aren’t guaranteed spawns, but they appear often enough to make it worth participating. Three can appear during a random attack event, as well.

  • Moonshine Jamboree
  • Primal Cuts
  • Project Paradise
  • Spin the Wheel
  • Horde event in Cranberry Bog or the Mire
  • Workshop Defense event in Cranberry Bog or the Mire

How to Kill a Fog Crawler

Once you’ve tracked down your target, you’re going to need to take it out. Though Fog Crawlers aren’t as difficult as a Mirelurk King or Queen, they can definitely pose a challenge when in melee range. They only have three attacks, all of them for close combat.

  • Slash with arms.
  • Headbutt or jab.
  • Jumping slam that impacts an area of effect.

Considering its large health pool, it’s best to stay away from it. Use ranged attacks, especially those that deal ballistic damage, as that will do the most harm. Avoid radiation and poison as Fog Crawlers are immune to both. If you do have to get up close and personal, aim for the legs. Crippling them will make them move slower, allowing you to literally run circles around them. I personally like to lay into it when a minigun until it’s dead, especially when there are multiple I have to deal with.

Fog Crawler Loot

All Fog Crawlers will drop the same three things upon death.

  • Raw Fog Crawler Meat
  • Fiber Optics Bundle
  • Waste Antiseptic

A Glowing or Alpha Fog Crawler can also drop:

  • Glowing Meat
  • Glowing Blood
  • Nuclear Waste
