Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Where to Find Robbie and His Location in TotK

Having trouble finding Robbie in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Here's where he is.

One of the quests early in the story campaign of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, called Camera Work in the Depths, has you descend for what might be your first foray deep below the surface of Hyrule. Robbie, the Shiekah researcher, will be down there ahead of you. While there’s a bit of guidance on where to find him, the Depths are a pitch-black hell hole as large as Hyrule itself. Here’s the quickest way to find Robbie so you can get in and get out.

To start your quest to find Robbie, head to the Hyrule Field Chasm south of Lookout Landing. Use the paraglider when you start seeing some of the campfires, as there’s no water to land in safely.

Just south of where you land in the Depths will be one of your lifelines down here: a Lightroot, the Depths’ version of a Skyview Tower. Activate it to illuminate a large area nearby and reveal a portion of the map. From there, you can talk to any of the NPCs who came down to set up Depths exploration.

They’ll direct you west, and you should be able to see another unlit Lightroot in the distance. The trouble? There’s almost no light between where you are and where you need to be.

Bring Brightbloom Seeds, which you can find in most caves in Hyrule proper. You can either throw them or attach them to arrows. When they land, they’ll light up a small portion of the Depths near them.

You’ll also need to watch out for the red-glowing patches of gloom. Touching gloom for too long will temporarily remove a heart from your bar, capping your health below its normal maximum.

As you travel west toward the second Lightroot, there will be a pair of Bokoblin camps, and you’ll notice these guys are also glowing red. They’re infected with gloom. Rather than dealing traditional damage, they also inflict the gloom status, with each hit robbing you of an additional heart. Get gloom on all of your hearts, and it’s game over, so I’d recommend booking it straight for the second Lightroot and activating it, which will thankfully dispel the gloom affliction.

Robbie will be just a little bit beyond the second Lightroot, called Iayusus. When you meet him, he’ll unlock the Camera ability for you, and you’ll complete not only Camera Work in the Depths but likely your first journey down here as well. You’re welcome to continue exploring, of course, and it’s easy to get literally lost in the dark for hours. I certainly did.

That’s where to find Robbie in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll need to plumb the Depths again later in your playthrough, but for now, that’s all you’ll need to do in this literal pit.
