The Amazing Spiderman 2 Heading to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

Activision and Marvel Entertainment announce Amazing Spiderman 2 is coming to Wii U and 3DS by Nintendo.

Set to be released with the movie’s début, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be placed on Nintendo platforms Wii U and 3DS. Developer of The Amazing Spider-Man on Nintendo last year, Beenox, will also be heading up the sequel. The release date is sometime next spring of 2014.

Set in the huge site of New York City, the game will feature open-world gameplay. It will be an action-adventure where the player will be in third-person view mode. The game is not set to follow along with the movie’s plotline. The first game was set after the ending of the first movie, so it is possible that this game too will be set after the end of the movie sequel.

During a press conference, Co-Studio Head, Thomas Wilson said,

The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore – a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies…and the overwhelming message from fans was: ‘MORE!’ That’s what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – we’re giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won’t want to miss playing it.

The movie itself is currently set to be released May 2, 2014 by Sony Pictures. If the game is released along with the movie, we could see it around the beginning of May as well, but no specific release date has been set by developers.
