NISA Announces Void Terrarium for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch

Explore the ruined world and defend the last human in this dark, but enchanting roguelike.

One of Nippon Ichi Software America’s two announcements for this week is that void tRrLM(); //Void Terrarium (aka Void Terrarium) is heading to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The gorgeous, yet melancholy rougelike will make its console debut this summer, but there’s no specific release window other than that.

In Void Terrarium, you play as a lone robot in a world on the brink of destruction. One day, you find a human girl on the edge of death — lone, as in “probably the last human ever.” You and your helpful AI friend factoryAI decide to help nurse the girl back to health and keep her safe from the manifold dangers in the environment, like monsters, diseases, and toxic plant life.

That means heading out into the procedurally generated world to gather resources you need to keep her alive. Fortunately, the friendly bot has access to a wide range of parts, skills, and other equippables to make exploring safer and keep the gears turning. You’ll need to choose your setup carefully as well; it’s an unforgiving world out there.

Void Terrarium is from the same minds as A Rose in the Twilight. If you hadn’t already guessed that from the general setup, it certainly shines through with the game’s darkly beautiful visuals.
