Shovel Knight’s Finally Getting the Spectre Knight Update

Beloved 16 bit platformer, Shovel Knight, will finally be getting its Specter of Torment update on PC on April 5th, with the update coming to other consoles at an undetermined time later this month.

Specter of Torment is a prequel to the events of Shovel Knight and stars Specter Knight, who is sent by the villain, The Enchantress, to recruit members for her Order of No Quarter. The expansion will also cover the origin of Specter Knight and how he came into that position.

Shovel Knight Treasure Trove, a collection of all Shovel Knight updates and expansions as well as the first version of Shovel Knight to feature Specter of Torment, released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 3rd of this year. Shovel Knight Treasure Trove will be released for other consoles at an unspecified time this month for $24.99, and will include all previous and future expansions and updates. Current owners of Shovel Knight will be able to have their game updated to Shovel Knight Treasure Trove for free. The  DLC expansions will also be available as standalone titles for $9.99 each.

Shovel Knight was originally released by Yacht Club Games in 2014. In Shovel Knight, you play as the character of the same name, collect treasure, and fight against enemies with your trusty shovel.

The game released to critical acclaim and has had one previous DLC expansion released in 2015 called Plague of Shadows, in which you play as the character Plague Knight.

Shovel Knight is currently available for 3DS, Wii U, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
