Final Fantasy XV rumored to have September 30 release date

Several sources have suggested the 30th of September to be announced as the official release date for Final Fantasy XV.

According to insider information given to gaming website Gematsu, Final Fantasy XV has a release date of September 30 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This has been confirmed by several seemingly reliable sources ahead of an official event scheduled by Square Enix at the end of the month for the long-awaited game.

This news comes just before the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event due to take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on March 30th. Hosted by Greg Miller and Tim Getty, you'll be able to watch a livestream of the show through several channels, including YouTube and Twitch.

Originally announced as Final Fantasy XIII Versus way back in 2006, the project was re-launched as Final Fantasy XV a few years ago. It's been a long wait for fans of the franchise, who will no doubt be eager for confirmation of the game's release -- and of course, to finally get their hands on the finished version.

I've never really been a fan...of the numbered titles. I've always found the offshoot titles super interesting. This I want to play but maybe a year after everyone else.

After 13, I couldn't give half a crap about 15 if I tried. 14 was nice, but ultimately linear.

Let's not forget the producer left mid-production in 15, and we all remember how much of a clusterf*ck 12's plot was after the producer left.

As disappointed as i've been with recent games in the series, I can't help but hold out hope that maybe they will manage to recapture some of the magic from the glory days. Foolish I know, but I just can't help myself.
