Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman shares his opinion on 2009's Ghostbusters game
2016 hasn't been the best year for Ghostbusters fans. After the trailer for the recent remake being hated by fans -- even becoming the most disliked trailer of all time -- and the release being just a week from now, it's hard to get excited for something related to the iconic series. Last time fans got excited for something Ghostbusters related was probably the 2009 game, released last gen.
While fans and critics loved the game, the director of Ghostbusters, Ivan Reitman, was a little more mixed about it. In an interview he told Gameinformer that he wasn't as fond of it as some might think.
“I was very thankful for it. It wasn’t as good as I had hoped, though. I know a lot of people like it a lot. I’m not a big gamer, so I’m the wrong guy to critique it. It just didn’t seem lively enough, but I thought it was good for the same reason I helped found Ghost Corps [production company]. I think it’s a great and worthwhile story to be able to continue.”
Ghostbusters: The Video Game was released on June 16th, 2009 by Terminal Reality(Xbox 360, PS3, PC versions) and Red Fly Studios(Nintendo Wii, PS2, PSP). It was one of the last projects the late Harold Ramis worked on before his passing in 2014.
