Mighty No. 9 Starts A New Kickstarter Campaign, Gets An Animated Series
One of my favorite Kickstarter campaigns so far is Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9. The game easily reached its campaign goal, and is now in full development. Now, Mighty No. 9 has opened up for another campaign, with the new stretch goal being $100,000.
Reaching their goals and beyond
During the first round on Kickstarter, Mighty No. 9 earned $4 million, completely reaching all of the game's stretch goals. Inafune mentioned that anything raised this round will go towards new features, including English voice acting. The second round (which you can reach here) is also meant to give those who missed the original Kickstarter project a chance to still be able to contribute to the project.
So far, the only stretch goal for the new campaign is English voice acting. Additional goals have not been revealed as of yet.
Mighty No. 9 will also be getting an animated TV series. Tokyo-based company Digital Frontier will produce the show, who unveiled the trailer for the show at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.
As mentioned before, I am anticipating Mighty No. 9.
I loved the Mega Man games, and I am hoping that Mighty No. 9 brings some old-school flair while still having some originality. Comcept and Keiji Inafune have some big shoes to fill, and I hope that they can deliver.
Of course, with the new Kickstarter round beginning, expectations for Mighty No. 9 are going to rise. Hopefully Comcept will be able to take the money and push Mighty No. 9 further than they were before. I am curious to see what future stretch goals will be, and hope they improve the game. I am a little hesitant about the animated series, as it looks a little goofy. But then again, goofy never stopped me before.
Comcept planes to release Mighty No. 9 in Spring 2015. The game will release on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Linux, Mac, and Windows PC.
