Capcom Reveals Three New Street Fighter 6 Characters at State of Play

Step up, World Warriors. We got a look at three new Street Fighter 6 characters in the latest State of Play, and they look fantastic.

If you were a Street Fighter fan watching today’s Sony State of Play, you were in for a treat. The venerable fighting game studio showed off three new characters coming to Street Fighter 6. If you’ve seen the leaks, none of these characters will be a surprise to you, but it was nice to see what they’re going to look like in Street Fighter 6.

The first character Capcom showed was Zangief, and… well, he looks like Zangief. The big Russian looks like he has everything you could want – lariats, big, long-range attacks, the ability to literally flex on his enemies, armored normals, and of course, the moves that have defined his kit for decades – the Screw Piledriver and Siberian Express. But Zangief hasn’t been resting on his laurels since Street Fighter 5. He’s got some new tricks, too, like the counter throw Tundra Storm. He even has a move reminiscent of The Rock’s People’s Elbow. Pretty good, considering his background as a pro wrestler.

Next up was Lily. She’s a new character, but her moveset might look a little familiar because she’s a descendant of the Thunderfoot tribe, the same tribe as the iconic T. Hawk who was first seen in Super Street Fighter II. Lily doesn’t have T. Hawk’s size, but she brings back several of his iconic moves. The trailer shows off her Condor Dive, Condor Spire, and Tomahawk Buster. She also has a special move called Condor Wind, which grants a Windclad stock, and powers up her other special moves. She may be T. Hawk’s successor, but she’s still in training, as you can see when she flubs the ending of her Level 3 Super Art, Raging Typhoon.

The last character was a Street Fighter classic. Cammy is officially back. Her redesign loses her iconic green leotard, but her new look, complete with a Union Jack jacket and her iconic red boots and gloves, looks fantastic. Her Spiral Arrow, Cannon Spike, and Hooligan Combination special moves return. According to Capcom, “the Heavy version of each of those three moves has been enhanced to allow for a delay which results in altered properties for some big damage.” We also got a look at two of her Super Arts, Killer Bee Spin and Delta Red Assault.

In addition to the characters, we also got a look at several stages: Zangief’s industrial Barmaley Steelworks, Lily’s vibrant and colorful Thunderfoot Settlement, and Cammy’s London-inspired King Street.

It was an impressive showing for Street Fighter 6, which looks like it will take the FGC by storm when it releases in June. The game will make it’s EVO debut this year, and many players will be lining up to try to cash in on the $2 million dollar prize pool it’s upcoming Capcom Pro Tour. If you’re looking to get in on the action, you can pre-order Street Fighter 6 now.
