Paint it Back is a unique puzzle game with influences of a Sudoku type grid to get users to paint masterpieces that are suddenly stolen from the museum! The game includes 140 paintings to solve and over 14 rooms to display your works of art.

Great app for kids and adults alike!

There are many reasons you would want to play this app, one being that it is a very good game to play with your children. It takes a classic puzzle game and combines it with the idea of a paint by number. However it’s not just for the kids in the family but the adults too. Paint it Back is difficult enough to challenge the entire family especially once you get to the upper level painting rooms!

The basic premise of the game is to color in the tiles based on what numbers are showing in each row and column. Rows and column with multiple numbers mean that there is a space between some of the colored blocks and the “x” marked spaces.

As you paint along within the app your grid gets larger with many more numbers and tiles to color in, making it that much harder to fill in the picture. The picture is withheld from you until you complete it and the only thing available to hint you about what the picture is, is a small caption at the top. These captions keep the game at a certain difficulty without making the player completely clueless about what they should aim for in the painting.

The pixellated art reveals itself in color after you complete each puzzle correctly and players are then given a ribbon based on how fast and accurate they were while painting.

Beautifully designed app!

The visual appeal of the app is noticeable right off the bat. It is beautifully designed for the iPhone and iPad without any sense of stretching on the bigger screens. The numbers are clear and the style is very easy to look at, which might be a bad thing, because the blue really helps glue your eyes to your device until all the paintings are re-done!

Small irritations but nothing to worry about!

The gameplay is wonderful, the visual literacy is excellently crafted but, the tutorial is just too long. I played through the entire tutorial and after about the fifth practice painting I knew what I was doing but it insisted to keep going on for another what felt like dozens of paintings.

Once I finally got past the tutorial the game was fun and interesting and I wanted to get all the ribbons for my paintings. This game makes you think and isn’t mundane because you get to actually create a painting and see the final colored result.

Paint it Back is available for free on iOS today! If you’re looking for a game to calm you down after all this Flappy Bird excitement, this game will soothe you to your normal temper!
