- Dan Adelman

For 10 years, Dan Adelman was the head honcho for digital content and development at Nintendo. Long story short, he was the top guy for discovering indie games and bringing them to the attention of gamers. He has discovered titles including: World of Goo, Cave Story, and the highly popular Super Meat Boy.

After serving 10 years with Nintendo, he brought his talent to other titles: Axiom Verge, Chasm, and Mages of Mystralia. Of course, if there is any advice for how to get into the gaming business, this would be the guy to go to.

"Golden rule of level design - Finish your first level last."

- John Romero

I would take this quote to heart--especially if you are going to be a level designer. He was even credited with inventing the FPS term, “DeathMatch” and is the co-founder of Id Software. The first game that he ever created was a replica of Crazy Climber, but was never published. In the gaming business, most video game developers want to make money with games. Of course there is nothing wrong with that, but they gloss over one thing: How is player experience with the game? Are they going to enjoy themselves or will their experience be negative?
