Guild Wars 2 State of the Game February (Part 5)

Another State of the Game streamchat round table has taken place. In this part the players and devs discuss Lowell's questions to finish up, addressing issues of population-splitting and UI management.

Now for the conclusion of the Guild Wars 2 State of the Game streamchat round table breakdown for February.  Lowell starts us off this time giving his thoughts and questions for the devs.

Lowell’s questions

Lowell asked first if they will be further specifying the UI and keybinding capabilities for class-specific abilities (such as an elementalist shifting affinities).  The devs both acknowledged that it is more complicated for certain classes and that it’s something that is on the list of things to be done, but that it is not very high on the priority list given how many major features are currently in development.

His next question was if there were plans for a dedicated solo queue players that would not place a team of five random players against a group with three solo players and a pair.  Sharp took the question by pointing out how the first Guild Wars had different game modes split up enough that it kept the player base separated too much to feel like a unified whole, which ultimately had a very negative effect on their total player base since each subset of PvP felt underpopulated.

Closing

This was the second time Jonathon Sharp was able to come onto this monthly streamchat, and the very clear effort at near-full transparency between Arenanet and the players of Guild Wars 2 is as nice to see as it was the first time.  As Grouch said at the end, maybe we’ll be able to trick one of the devs into saying something more exciting than they should’ve, one of these days!
