These five weapons are the most effective, when it comes to realistic WWI warfare action in Tanneberg.

Tannenberg is the second game in the WWI series from Blackmill Games, now available on Steam. The first one, Verdun, was released back in 2015, and it covered the battle of the Western Front. This time, Tannenberg will cover the other one: the Eastern Front, involving armies of Russia and Austria-Hungary.

Although the game is currently in Early Access, with the full release planned for sometime in early 2018, it already offers an incredibly realistic depiction of the WWI battles, with up to 64 players in a single match.

The weapon pool in the game keeps growing in terms of both quantity and quality, but for now you have the chance to learn about the five best weapons currently available in Tannenberg.

Mauser Gewehr 98

  • Type: Bolt-action Rifle
  • Magazine: 5
  • Ammo: 7.92×57mm Mauser
  • Attachments: Stripper Clips, Bayonet, Trench Magazine

Mauser rifles are probably the most important weapons that were used by the German army during WWI. Among them, the Gewehr 98 model is definitely the best weapon in Tannenberg.

It is super effective at medium to long range, and its stopping power makes it a good tool for clearing out trenches. Although the iron sights can be obstructive when firing at a distant target, you will get used to it rather quickly.

Mosin-Nagant M91

  • Type: Bolt-action Rifle
  • Magazine: 5
  • Ammo: 7.62×54mmR
  • Attachments: Stripper Clips, Bayonet

Just like Mauser rifles in the German army, Mosin-Nagants were the most widely used rifles by Russian soldiers during WWI.

This weapon is very similar to the Gewehr 98 model in terms of handling and purpose, so if you find yourself on the side of the Russians, then pick this one up without hesitation.

Also, there is a variant of this rifle in Tannenberg: the short bolt-action rifle "Dragoon," which is a clipped version of an M91, and thus, not as effective.

Luger P08 Pistol

  • Type: Semi-automatic Pistol
  • Magazine: 8
  • Ammo: 9x19mm Parabellum
  • Attachments: NA

This Luger was widely used by Germans in WWI due to its ergonomics and toggle-locked recoil-operated semi-automatic mechanism, one of the first of its kind. It was designed with a toggle-lock action, which uses a jointed arm to lock, as opposed to the slide actions of almost every other semi-automatic pistol.

This unusual weapon is very precise and most effective when combat ensues in the trench lines. Make sure to fire off multiple rounds at enemies in a short amount of time to inflict maximum damage.

Mauser C96 Pistol

  • Type: Semi-automatic Pistol
  • Magazine: 10
  • Ammo: 7.63×25mm Mauser
  • Attachments: NA

Mauser, mostly known for its series of rifles, produced an alternative to the Luger pistol to fill the gap in the massive demand for this specific type of weapon in the German army during WWI.

It was nicknamed the “Broomhandle” due to its unusual grip shaped like the handle of a broom, which gives it more stability during fire. Its long barrel and high-velocity cartridge allow for a much superior range and better penetration than most other pistols in Tannenberg.

M1915 Stielhandgranate

  • Type: Hand Grenade
  • Filling: Trinitrotoluene
  • Detonation mechanism: Friction igniter (4.5s delay)

Sometimes you just need something to get your enemies out of the trenches. This M1915 grenade is a perfect tool for doing exactly that.

The design of the Stielhandgranate allows the handle to give the player more leverage and therefore throw it farther. The friction mechanism delay will also give you enough time to take cover after the initial explosion.

It's a great tool to have, so pick it up before venturing into the areas controlled by the Allied forces.
