League of Legends Error 5C has been keeping players from logging into the client. You may have gotten ready to start playing and found you couldn’t, only to be met with a message saying there’s “trouble fetching information for this player.” What gives? Here’s how to fix LoL Error 5C.

What is Error 5C: Trouble Fetching Information for This Player?

Error 5C, which has occurred in the past, causes log-in attempts to fail. While Riot Games has fixed the error on its end, it has been a repeated error throughout League of Legends’ history. As with many issues, this one seems to be related to your Internet connection. 

Is There a Fix for LoL Error 5C?  

If you happen to have Error 5C pop up on your PC or device, here’s what you can do to try and fix it.

  • Check the Client Version: Ensure you’re using the latest version of the client and update if need be. You can check this by looking on the upper left side of the client to see if there is an update progress bar or play button.
  • Check if the Riot Servers are Down: It’s possible that the League of Legends servers are down. Look at LoL‘s Downdetector page and the official LoL Riot page
  • Check Your Internet Connection Status: Check that you’re connected to the Internet on your device. It’s possible there was a momentary dip or disruption. 
  • Restart/unplug Your Router: This is a basic troubleshooting tip but one that can easily fix any connection issues you might be having. 
  • Restart Your Computer/System: A quick restart can sometimes issues like Error 5C that are based on connectivity problems.
  • Log Into Another Account: Some users have found logging into another account, then logging back into yours will fix Error 5C. 
  • Repair Your Client: Use the Hextech Repair Tool, which is available on the LoL website for PC and Mac, to fix your client.
  • Submit a Ticket: If all else fails you will need to submit a ticket to get the issue resolved.
