PUBG’s Official Release Window Gets Moved

PLAYERUNKNOWN BATTLEGROUNDS might not hit its October launch date after all.

With so much anticipation surrounding the game, fans may be disappointed to hear that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) won’t hit its full launch in October as previously scheduled.

This development comes recently after creator Brendan Greene — also known as PLAYERUNKNOWN  — was quoted in an interview as saying:

People tell us we’re not going to be out of early access in six months; challenge accepted. I can guarantee you, six or seven months and we’re out of early access. It’s the team. It’s a matter of honour [sic], you know? We will finish this game in six months.

Since speaking those words in April, Greene seems less confident in the October full launch. Greene told PC Gamer that he and BlueHole Studio are working to bring the best PUBG experience they can to players around the globe. The team is currently fixing bug and improving gameplay across the board, and sticking to a specific window could stall some of the proposed features.

Over the past few months I have done a lot of interviews, and in many of them, I said we hoped to be out of Early Access six months after we first launched. I’ve come to realize that restricting the window to a specific month could hinder us from delivering a fully featured game and/or lead to disappointment within the community if the launch deadline is not met.

Consequently, the full launch of PUBG will be pushed back, with the full release now planned “before the end of Q4 2017,” according to Greene.

When PUGB does officially launch, it will be available on PC, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
