One of my favorite game series ever is Pokemon, so it’s only natural that I would want to share this with my future children. I grew up playing the Pokemon series from the very beginning and have many memories from the games. The game lends itself well to young audiences, so it should not be to difficult for them to start with. They will not need to go through all the games as I have, but they will at least start with the original Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green.
Starting off right
Pokemon is so widely known that anyone who even knows of video games or TV knows of Pokemon. My children will start from Red or Green to see where it all began. I will not be cruel and have them play the original, and highly outdated, Gameboy cartridges though. They will start with the remake on the Gameboy Advance, unless they make another remake, but I doubt that.
My children will know the joys of choosing their first Pokemon and of the iconic Professor Oak. They will travel through the world and see recognizable trainers, such as Brock and Misty. Team Rocket will interfere with my children’s plans, but it won’t be anything they can’t handle.

Gotta Catch ’em all
One of my favorite things that I am excited to pass down, is the thrill of catching and raising your own Pokemon. That was the main thing that I loved about the series when I first started. It was so fun to be able to choose who I want on my team, and raise them how I want. Even though it is just a game, it gives you a better bond with your Pokemon than with party members most RPG’s.
I will be interested to see which Pokemon they choose and watch as they decide how to go about raising them. Another thing that will be fun is showing them the Pokemon I’ve trained over the years. Unlike Professor Oak, however, I won’t settle for saving only three in my old age. Thanks to the new Pokemon Bank coming out with Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, I will be able to keep them for whenever I have children and they are ready to play Pokemon.
My Charizard and I have been through a lot.
