Final Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event Will Air Next Week

There's more Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak coming, and we'll learn more about it soon.

It’s been roughly two years since Monster Hunter Rise released on Nintendo Switch, but all good things must eventually come to an end. Capcom has announced that the final digital event for Sunbreak, the game’s only expansion, will air on June 7, 2023, at 7:00 a.m. PDT. Set to be hosted by Yasunori Ichinose and Yoshitake Suzuki (directors of Rise and Sunbreak, respectively), this stream will detail the final additions coming to the game as well as feature interviews with some of the dev team on their process for Rise.

There are no hints at what might be added in this final content drop as the previous update featured the conclusion of Sunbreak’s story. This will likely be some final monsters, maybe a few quality-of-life changes, and a rotation of event quests for hunters to partake in. The game will end at version 1.6, which will have to tide players over until the next installment in the Monster Hunter series.

There’s a possibility that Capcom will announce a follow-up, but that seems unlikely. Capcom is currently busy gearing up for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and will be in full support mode for Street Fighter 6 for the next year or so. A new Monster Hunter is absolutely coming, especially considering how Monster Hunter World and Rise are two of the best-selling games in Capcom’s entire history. We just don’t know what form it will take.

Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak are currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
