All League players who have ever watched the growing production and weekly spectacle that is the League of Legends League Championship Series has imagined what it would be like to play under those circumstances. While Victorious Gaming can’t quite offer the dazzling lights and hundreds of thousands of weekly viewers, they have developed a system that gives any League player who wishes an outlet to perform on a more competitive, enjoyable level.
The thrill of the LCS big stage can only be experienced the teams that play there, but an everyday league player can still enjoy a competitive environment.
A couple of months ago I was referred by a friend to participate in their daily League tournament, only an hour before it started at 7 PM that day. Intrigued without anything else to do that night, I decided to jump on in, and quickly discovered a healthy alternative to the treacherous grind that is solo queue. Victorious Gaming has created an easy way to involve the community at all skill levels by evenly dispersing all tournament players each day into separate and fair teams through each ELO division from bronze to diamond alike.
Competing for a prize
A typical night will consist of a maximum of four games in a single elimination bracket, meaning that you could be playing for less than hour or up to four, competing for the grand prize of 3200 RP and the Triumphant Ryze skin. However, after the first round (typically, depending on how many players/teams there are that night) teams will earn Riot Points in increments of 800 (for example, the second place would earn 2400).
VG Tournaments create a more enjoyable experience than typical solo queue
In a sense, this system simply creates a more competitive, yet healthy environment than typical solo queue. First of all, you are able to work on your teamwork skills much more effectively while playing in TeamSpeak, but the organization (and the fact that you are on voice chat as opposed to just typing) keeps toxicity to a very low level — it is not tolerated. The level of play is significantly more focused than solo queue because of this, involving more advanced strategy than you would often see at your current level, enabling you to more quickly learn how to become a better player.
All in all, Victorious Gaming has offered all players in North America an awesome opportunity to add a new flair to their typical League day. The toxicity level is dramatically lower, the competitive environment is a healthy change of pace, and the ability to improve your own gameplay is thoroughly evident while playing in these tournaments, not to mention the free Riot Points and skins!
