3 Horror Games That Forgot To Scare You

The 3 Games That Promised Me A Scare But Failed To Deliver

I have played a lot of horror games in my time, some of which scared the crap out of me and had me on the edge of my seat. It has been a while since a game has been good enough to actually give me a scare though. The last game that I played that actually had me scared was TellTale’s The Walking Dead, crap gameplay but a great story that had me freaking out every time I turned a corner.

Here are my top 3 games that promised to have you squealing like a little girl, but left me disappointed and kinda bored.

 #3 – Alan Wake

Don’t get me wrong Alan Wake was a pretty good game and had a decent story, but at no point was I scared by the game. They definitely did a good job, but with the story they had the game could have been so much more. By the end of the game I found myself falling asleep while fighting through the shadow hordes. I even had a friend pirate Alan Wake for me so I could walk around with the iconic anti-piracy eye patch, all the “scary” cut scenes become hilarious when you look like a pirate.

 #2 – Manhunt 2

The first Manhunt game was a very good psychological thriller, the sequel however falls very far from the tree. Manhunt 2 tried to deliver the same kind of feel that you are inside a horror movie that the first one gave us, but it ended up being a bash-em-up game. Manhunt 2 seems to focus on the bash someone’s skull in type of gameplay rather than worrying about having a good and scary story. It was just a sad sequel to a very good horror game.

 #1 – Dead Space 3

The Dead Space series is by far my favorite horror series. The first game cemented my love of horror games. The second one was even more amazing, keeping me on the edge of my seat the entire game. Then they released Dead Space 3 and all horror went out the window. The entire game feels like a “run here and click this” type of game with very little, if any, scary moments. In my opinion Dead Space 3 was a slap in the face to the rest of what should be an iconic horror series.

I am sure most of you disagree with me so leave a comment let me know what you think was the least scary horror game you have played.
