An interview with a friend (no he’s not a vampire)

An interview with my friend about his favorite game.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

As part of week one of the Orzhov phase we were each tasked to interview one friend or family member. The topic of the interview was to be about the friend or family member’s favorite game. I posted up on Facebook looking for someone interested in helping me out. I got a response from two people, one of which was willing to do the interview.

My friend’s name is Morgan and I met him through another friend I used to play Final Fantasy XI with. He’s a pretty cool guy, so I’m glad he was willing to help me out with this. We did the questions through Facebook’s chat system so it’s kind of bad grammar, but in an attempt to keep everything accurate I have quoted it as is. The bold lines are mine, and the regular lines are Morgan’s.

Okay the first and most obvious question… What is your favorite game?

Hmm. I guess Might and Magic VI

There’s a 6? I thought the last one released was 4

You’re thinking of Heroes of Might and Magic, probably.

Might and Magic IX is the last one.

oh true that I’m not all there right now

Haha, is okay.

How did you first get into Might and Magic 6?

I think my aunt suggested it to me, actually. The one that would always be our DM for D&D, haha.

Never played D&D but that’s kinda cool that your aunt played lol

Haha, yeah, it’s pretty neat.

Are there any multiplayer aspects to it or is it just a single player game?

Just single-player.

ah not my type of game then. What specifically about the game was your favorite part?

Hmm. I guess the expansiveness, the atmosphere, and the depth of character leveling and such. It was pretty non-linear and there was lots to do and explore, despite it’s age.

its*

How old is it exactly? Sounds kind of ancient the way you talk about it.

1998

Oh so Final fantasy 7 ish old

Were there any parts of the game you disliked?

Sure. It sometimes had some bugs that were potentially pretty bad, and sometimes the combat could be pretty tough.

yea bugs are pretty annoying

Would you still play the game now or do you still play the game? Or have you just kind of moved on to newer games?

I played Might and Magic IX recently, which is still kind of old. I will very possibly play through VI again if I get bored. It can be difficult to run on newer computers though, sometimes.

But I haven’t played that specific one recently.

ah, yeah the difficulties of playing older games

anything else you’d like to share about it?

It’s really underrated and not widely known, but it’s lots of fun and has lots of character. They really don’t make them like they used to.

Well thanks for helping me out man I really appreciate it

No problem!
