If you’re looking for a true fighting game experience in the realm of Kaiju, then be sure to check out Godzilla: Save the Earth. It includes a huge roster of monsters, including Godzilla, Anguirus, SpaceGodzilla, Destoroyah, Mothra, Baragon, and many others. What I like the most about this game is that I can literally destroy cities, which serve as battle arenas, while fighting other Kaiju. The more battles you win, the more content you unlock, so it’s never boring.

War of the Monsters

Too bad there’s no King Kong in Godzilla: Save the Earth. But if you like the concept of fighting Kaiju and having King Kong on the roster of monsters, then don’t miss out on the War of the Monsters. This game allows you to walk freely around the stages, climb buildings, and engage with the surroundings, in contrast to standard fighting games with enclosed battle arenas. On top of that, you’ll find yourself engaged in a cool little story that explains all the havoc.

Godzilla: The Game

Not all players want to fight Kaiju, but they love destroying cities while playing as Godzilla. Fortunately, there’s a special Destruction Mode in the Godzilla game from 2014, which offers players a highly immersive experience with no other job than simply crushing those buildings. My favorite little detail about this game is that it introduces the Burning Godzilla monster, which is famous for being the strongest type of Godzilla that can melt buildings with its fiery flames.

Peter Jackson’s King Kong

Everybody remembers Peter Jackson’s King Kong movie from 2005, but not many people actually played the game based on the movie, which is excellent. I love that the game offers players the opprtunity to take on the role of either King Kong himself or the human protagonist named Jack, portrayed by Adrien Brody in the movie. So you can choose to either fight monsters and humans or try to survive Kong’s assault as a human.

Godzilla: Unleashed

Godzilla: Unleashed is considered the most authentic Godzilla game ever released due to the inclusion of the original Kaiju monsters, such as Obsidius and Krystalak. Each of these monsters has its own unique attack patterns, so you’ll never get bored playing them. But the game isn’t limited only to fighting, as there’s a fantastic storyline that accompanies the entire gaming experience, revealing some amazing facts about the Godzilla lore.

Shadow of the Colossus

Not all Kaiju games involve Godzilla and King Kong. Some developers, such as Team Ico, managed to create a world of their own with unique monsters that have never been seen before in pop culture. You can play either of the three available Shadow of the Colossus games, including a 2005 original, a 2013 remaster of the original game, or even a 2018 remake. All three versions of the game are fantastic and let you fight some really big creatures.

Monster Hunter: World

If you love hunting giant monsters in the open world, then there’s no better option than the Monster Hunter series of video games. But let’s take a look at Monster Hunter: World, which is by far one of the best monster-hunting games out there. It features a multiplayer co-op mode, which allows you to hunt monsters with other players online, making the experience so much more fun. Also, Capcom regularly updates the game with new monsters, quests, and events, which keeps things fresh.

Monster Hunter Rise

If you’re looking for a more classic Monster Hunter experience with zones and the absence of a tracking system, then I highly recommend Monster Hunter Rise. The combat in this game utilizes a Wirebug mechanic, which makes it more dynamic and acrobatic. While I’d suggest new players try out a more beginner-friendly Monster Hunter: World, all the experienced monster hunters will love Monster Hunter Rise much more.

Pacific Rim

Here’s another video game based on a popular movie franchise. Pacific Rim offers players the opportunity to sit inside massive Jaeger robots to fight giant Kaiju monsters in the cities and beyond. I don’t need to mention that battles in this game are just as epic as they are in the movies. Although some players have complained about the repetitive nature of gameplay, I believe every Kaiju fan should try it out.

Rampage: Total Destruction

Rampage: Total Destruction offers a complete Rampage experience, including the original Rampage arcade game from the 80s, Rampage World Tour games, as well as a brand-new take on the classic gameplay in Total Destruction mode. The package also includes a multiplayer mode, so you can start smashing those buildings with your friends at home.

That’s it for my list of the top 10 best games for Godzilla x Kong fans. Stay tuned for more top lists and the best game selections in our culture hub.
