Now that we have had time to go over some people’s con stories. I think it’s fair that we go over a few of mine. Sit back, relax, and enjoy some of my own personal stories of going to conventions.
Threads of Fate
It was my second time at Katsucon with my friends. I was having a blast meeting new people and going to panels. I had been into this visual novel called Umineko No Koro Ni (Umineko) for some time now and I hope to see some people cosplaying it. Well, my wish was granted that Saturday night on the third floor of the National Gaylord Hotel, there a small gazebo. Here I met people who changed my life. They were all cosplaying characters. Their coordinator was Sare who was dressed as Beatrice from Umineko. I stood there admiring all of their work and their cosplays. Sare and everyone who was there made me feel welcomed and we must have talked for what was hours (2 or so, but still) I decided then my first jump into the cosplay world I will cosplay Rudolf Ushiromiya from Umineko.

Later that year, as Rudolf, I met up with Sare and her crew once again at Otakon and they remembered me from Katsucon. We had a blast and it will always be a treasured gem in my memory. If I never met Sare I would have never met my girlfriend and many wonderful people. So, to Sare and everyone I say thank you. Yep that’s it. I do not like getting all soft and mushy. Okay now that we got the “Awww’s” out of the way let me get onto the next story involves my second time to Otakon.
Really? Could you be any more obvious?
Maria, my girlfriend, decided to cosplay Catherine from the Xbox 360 game Catherine. After her photo shoot we had some spare time and the Dealer’s Hall had just opened up, so we headed that way. We knew a friend of ours, Dianna, was cosplaying Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. (Also, it was hot as hell and we needed to get inside or we were going to start to boil.) Maria and I went over to where Dianna was and were having a friendly chat. During the conversation I heard a strange scuffling behind me. I moved out of the way for a cosplayer who was trying to get by – if you have ever been in a Dealer’s Hall then you know exactly what it is like, being crammed like sardines.
That is when I noticed a guy about who was a bit shifty looking. I figured he was just another person at the con (we will call this person Y). For some reason my “Spidey Sense” was tingling and I knew something was up. Y was looking around as if he wanted to make sure no one saw him. I started to back a bit away from the circle of my girlfriend and Di’s conversation. At this point they were talking to each other since I had been quiet. I moved slowly to not arouse suspicion of Y. I made it look like I was interested in some of the stuff at the booth we were standing near.
This is when Y decided to pull out his phone and was trying to take an underskirt of my girlfriend and Di as well. At this point I kicked the phone across the floor. Y looked at me with a look like “What the fuck man?”
Before he even responded I say the following; “She’s mine–back off, now.” I’ll admit, not elegant, but I am sure I made my point clear and he went chasing after his phone. I turned around and Di and Maria were still talking like nothing ever happened. I told them later of the event and both were glad I stopped it from happening. I would like to derail this story a bit, but if you are really taking pictures of girls’ panties you really have sunk a whole new low. There is that stuff on the internet if you are that desperate. That guy is lucky I didn’t punch him and break his jaw.
These are my stories that I can recall. I’ll do another article on conventions in the far future. But, for now this doctor needs to take a break.
