How to Get Your Girlfriend Into Gaming

Don't worry about alienating your girlfriend by assuming she's like every pre-packaged pop-culture woman!
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

Are you that special type of boyfriend? The one who loves to game, and has always wanted to get his girlfriend involved. Well, if you’re that type of boy, then this is the list for you.

1. Color

Everyone knows that girls love pink. So if you can, make sure to get as heavily gendered an item as possible so that she can enjoy playing too.

Don’t worry if you don’t know if your girlfriend loves pink. She’s a girl, of course she loves pink.

If the controller isn’t pink, how will she know it’s for her?

2. The Right Games

Everyone knows that girls are far more sensitive than their male counterparts. I’d say that it’s been proven by science, but I’m a girl and I can’t do science. So if you’re looking to introduce your girlfriend to gaming, you shouldn’t even consider games like Mass Effect or TF2 or anything like that.

Guns scare women. They’re so big and mean looking. That’s why no girl has ever played a first person shooter. Instead, why not try something like Nintendogs? Everyone knows that girls like soft and cozy environments. It’s even better if the game is rated E, because then it’s for everyone!

Remember, girls are scared of explosions, and you shouldn’t even consider the idea that they might enjoy say, blasting around as a Gunzerker in Borderlands 2.

3. Remember to Be Simple!

It’s so hard being a girl, when all you care about are shoes and the price of expensive handbags, so don’t add more complication by making your girl read. Besides, everyone knows that games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Age are boy games. Girls don’t like plot.

So if you’re interested in getting a girl involved in gaming, think about puzzle games. Games that have no point, and no clear route to victory are probably the easiest and most attractive to your girlfriend!

Remember, make sure to put your game on “girlfriend mode!” Sorry, I meant easy mode!
