Hurry up and take my money, Riot Games!

Shoduran asks a little question about the big money spent on League of Legends.

League of Legends is heralded for its free-to-play model base with plenty additional options and artistic skin-work for the player to consider purchasing with their day-to-day hard earned cash. It has been this model, combined with the extensive, interesting, and fun champion design and roster, which has secured itself as a leading online game to this day. Despite being free-to-play, there is a long running question — and joke — which continues to circulate throughout the League of Legends community. So, let’s ask the question:

How much have you actually spent on League of Legends?

I personally have likely spent over 200 dollars on this game since my start two and a half years ago during Season One.

Given that the game has no actual monthly fee similar to traditional MMOs, such as World of Warcraft, League of Legends has a store in its online client with a slew of features to be bought with Riot Points, points which you purchase with real currency. Features include boosts for accumulating experience to level faster or gaining more Influence Points to purchase Runes to costumes for various champions that can change their appearance slightly or drastically, and Rune Pages on which you can place you Runes to further accentuate your abilities before loading into Summoner’s Rift.

With special packages and sales that reduce the Riot Point price on select items every week, it gets down-right tempting to grab something from the store. We then get into those people who have more than one account who want to hurry and grab champions they already know how to use while using boosts to hasten their leveling to 30. Wowsers, this can really add up.

So, how much money have you loaded into this game? Why not boast about it below and share a laugh — or cry — or two.
