SXSW Cares Fund Raising Money Following Tragic Accident

SXSW has started a donation drive for victims of the accident on March 13, 2014 in Austin, Texas.

After last week’s tragic accident where a drunk driver, who was evading police, ran into a crowd of SXSW conference goers waiting in line for an event, SXSW has started the SXSW Cares Fund. This fund will go to help the victims of the terrible accident that occurred March 13th.

The SXSW Cares Fund has a minimum donation of $10 and has thus far raised $62,586. Donors can choose a variety of payment levels ranging from the $10 minimum to $500. For those who want to pay more, there is an other option where they can enter the amount they wish to give. Two payment options are open. Donors can make a one-time payment or make 12 monthly payments.

Representatives of SXSW will see to the dispersal of funds in conjunction with the Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and the Austin Community Foundation.

SXSW ended March 16 but donations to the fund still continue. Next year’s dates have already been set for March 13th through the 17th next year.
