The Console Wars have begun… again

First Salvo

Sony Entertainment announced this past February the release of the PlayStation 4 later this year welcoming us into the next generation of video game consoles wars.

With rumors all over the internet of Microsoft announcing the Xbox 360’s successor at E3 in Los Angeles this June,  one wonders with excitement and slight apprehension what the future holds.

With some of the bigger games that were set to debut in the Spring–GTA 5 (all consoles) & The Last of Us on the PlayStation to name two–being delayed, is our current generation of consoles really on their last legs?

Whether or not the gaming public is ready to embrace them, these next-generation consoles are coming.  Sony has officially fire the first salvo.  Six and a half years ago, Microsoft caught Sony with their pants down when it released the Xbox 360 first and it looks like Sony is ready to get some revenge this time around.

Looming Questions

Has Sony learned its lesson on not relying so much on hardware but giving more love to the gaming goodness?  Will the Xbox 360 still be King of the Hill by the end of the year? Will cloud-based gaming setups like OnLive cause this war to be a fatal four way instead of just a triple threat?  Will anyone ever admit to buying a Wii U on purpose?

Only time will tell…
