It’s week 2. There have been casualties. May Helix save us all.
With the recent news that Pokemon will be on Netflix on March 1st and Twitch Plays Pokemon finally got past Giovanni’s Demon Ledge, everyone has got that Poke-Fever. Pokemon hasn’t seen this much attention since the ’90s.
And I am so ok with it.
The video above is from a little known YouTube channel called Short-Lived Heroes and depicts what the ground-level of Red’s TPP existence might be like. Spinning in circles, jumping down ledges, checking Bulbasaur’s height JUST ONE MORE TIME, and randomly releasing starter pokemon… TPP must seem exceptionally strange within the Pokemon world.
While Twitch Plays Pokemon is a fantastic social experiment, this video reminds us that Red is merely our puppet. We control him. We are a strange and mysterious pantheon of gods who do not understand the powers we wield. The Helix fossil is our avatar and Bird Jesus is our herald and we WILL beat the Elite Four. Eventually. Probably. Well, as long as we stay away from Bill’s PC.
