Why Donald Trump is Basically a Video Game Villain

With the recent backlash for his negatively perceived comments, Donald Trump has painted himself as a fairly villainous character. In fact, he's even comparable to some of the most notable video game villains out there!
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

The United States population was taken aback June of 2015, when TV personality and infamous businessman Donald Trump announced that he was running for President of the United States

Although it may not come as a surprise, Mr. Trump has offended a good portion of the population with his controversial statements on Mexican immigration, which led to many burned bridges and severed ties.

Intentionally hurting others in pursuit of power and making malicious accusations are both notable qualities of famous video game villains, but the similarities don't stop there. In fact, Donald Trump resembles so many different evil characters, and we couldn't not put together a slideshow to explain.

Bowser

Mario Bros.

Bowser, or King of the Koopa, is the main antagonist in the Mario Bros. franchise developed by Nintendo.

In perhaps the most recognized game in history, Bowser is known as the giant, lunky villain who's bent on capturing the Princess, taking over the kingdom, and defeating his enemies. Essentially, he's a tyrannical dictator selfishly doing and saying exactly what he wants while blowing a lot 'hot air'... sound familiar?

Dr. Robotnik

Sonic the Hedgehog

Dr. Robotnik's determination for destruction is only matched by the one and only Dr. EggTrump.

As far as aesthetics, the body shape and conniving body language are spot on. However, the personalities here are more fitting than anything else, especially since Dr. Eggman has been named one of the most persistent, craziest, and diabolical villain in video game history

This maniacal deviant is all about the Chaos Emeralds, just like Mr. EggTrump (Yes, we're making this a thing) is all about his money, and neither plan on backing down anytime soon.

Sephiroth

Final Fantasy 7

Although we have no evidence that Donald Trump was born from Jenova Cells, there are still many qualities he shares in common with the hellbent Final Fantasy villain, Sephiroth.

Sephiroth believed that it was his duty to take over the planet in his own vengeance against the people that created him to be a weapon, and he didn't care who he had to kill or what he had to destroy to get his way.

Much like the Trump Empire, Sephiroth is stubborn and set in his ways, although Sephiroth has much nicer hair.

Gary Oak

Pokemon

You want to be the very best, like no one ever was? Well the one person consistently one-upping you was Gary Oak, who was always around to rub it in your face how much better he was than you. And all while followed by his squad of (probably paid) cheerleaders.

We all knew Gary got a head start though. Being related to Professor Oak, which is some crazy name recognition, is likely why the smug Gary Oak was always able to stay a few steps ahead. Now, I'm not saying that Donald Trump had help while beginning his multi-billion dollar empire, but being born into a rich family sure does have its perks.

Handsome Jack

Borderlands

Handsome Jack is one of the seasoned villains of the Borderlands series, and is known for his smart mouth and inflated ego.

Like Mr. Trump himself, Jack holds a position of power by taking a lot of credit for tasks that involved a lot of other people who he's intentionally ignoring.

Another evil dictator, the notable difference between the presidential candidate and the game character is that only one of them has real hair. I'll leave it up to you to decide which.

Ganondorf

The Legend of Zelda

In Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series, Ganondorf makes more than a few appearances as a power-hungry addict who's thirst for power is virtually unquenchable. If there hasn't been a perfect match for Mr. Trump thus far, this would be it.

Ganondorf won't stop until he completes his goal of world domination, which is parallel to Donald Trump's presidential candidacy.

I'm imagining the dialogue being something along the lines of "Well sure I have bed sheets made out of $100 bills which I subsequently throw away at the end of each day because laundry is for peasants, but I'm still bored. What if I ran for president? Who is this Link character? A LOSER, that's who."

Dr. Neo Cortex

Crash Bandicoot

Although it's getting a bit old, Dr. Neo Cortex is yet another villain who aims for World Domination (seriously, why is this so attractive? What happened to starting small?).

Dr. Neo was bullied throughout his childhood, which shaped him into a supervillain with a lot of time to come up with evil plots, but apparently not enough time to get a sweet hairpiece like Mr. Trump.

Like Neo, Trump failed early on in his career and received consistent backlash which propelled him into the evil mastermind he is today.

The Lich King

World of Warcraft

Like a cape flowing ever so elegantly in the stormy, frigid winter winds, Donald Trump's hair piece is a majestic creature wafting through the air.

Besides their breezy accessories, Arthas and Donald have a few other traits in common. Both showed such promise in their respective crafts with potential for greatness, but both turned to the dark side.

Drunk with power, he took no prisoners and destroyed everything in his path to be the leader of the Scourge, which are mindless undead followers bent on destruction. Oh, you thought I was still talking about the Lich King?
