Why The Last Of Us is a Masterpiece and Why You Should Buy It

It's Time to think about buying The Last Of Us

Remember that time when games used to be really interesting? They had some new type of play mechanic that you had to learn, and you spent hours just diving into the game world to see if this game in fact was something that would end up being your favorite.

A game you could get lost in and just kick back a few hours and be really entertained. Well Dear Gamer, consider this a ‘help me to help you’ letter. Whut? What are you talking about?

Yeah, ‘help me to help you’ see that you are a fool if you think the Last Of Us is anything short of a masterpiece.

Well, how do you know it’s going to be that good?

Well I’m glad you asked. Let’s just consider a few things that might be just a little bit important when you start to put them all together.

This is being made by one of the greatest developers in the gaming business!

Naughty Dog… Duh! And let’s not forget these guys don’t really put their name on games that suck — Oh, well, what about Uncharted? Are you silly? OK, the Uncharted series could be called a lot of things, like, “I thought it was OK,” or “I thought it was a masterpiece,”–but one thing it could not be called is a game that sucked (be honest that game was far from a game that sucked).

And that brings me to my second point…

When was the last time you looked at a game and thought, “Wow, I would like to play that! It looks like it would be good. It just looks really interesting.” These days I’m pretty sure that’s pretty rare. So you probably have lost sight of what’s a good one and what’s just really bad. But have no fear, that’s why I’m here, to let you know when a really good one has come along…

So that brings me to my final point.

Do you own a PS3, and is The Last Of Us already pre-ordered? If not, why the hell not? Is it in your list of games to buy? Because if you can’t tell by now then you really are asleep at the wheel. Why would you not be getting a game that looks this good?

It’s like a PS4 game for your PS3… yeah it looks that good.

Games really don’t tend to get much better than this. Never mind the fact that the game has a feel of tension that’s probably second to none. Hell I can’t even remember a game I was playing where I said to myself, “Wow I am actually really nervous right here.”

I am actually really invested in the outcome of this. Meaning I can’t wait to see how this plays out. Most of the time when I’m playing through a game, like Homefront or Call Of Duty or Battlefield 3, I’m like “Whatever, this guy is still alive? Why, I shot you like 10 times, OK your dead now, move to another room, rinse and repeat.. Here we go again, shoot everyone in the room, move to next room shoot some more people in that room,” (Then add some cut-scenes to the story that make no sense, and I can’t follow it because I already forgot what it was about the second it started because it was that stupid). Now back to shooting… and if you haven’t already fallen asleep or moved on to multi-player by now, then – rinse and repeat.

That’s really all games are doing these days, and I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to finally get back to an actual game that’s about making the game actually fun to play. Setting the mood, creating some serious tension, giving you something worth listening too.

People, this is it, and it’s coming right at the end of the PS3’s cycle of games before the launch of PS4. So in essence this is the best of last gen. People say the best games always come at that end of the cycle when companies have really mastered the system. And this one is looking like one hell of an end-of-the-world title, for a system that is going to be going out with a bang. People, stop reading this and go get this game. This is going to be a good one.
