How to Complete the Altar of Ruin Stronghold in Diablo 4
Diablo 4 Altar of Ruin Stronghold Location
The Diablo 4 Altar of Ruin Stronghold can be found in the Kehjistan region, which you’ll visit during the game’s fourth act. It’s located in the northern sector near the border with the Dry Steppes.
As with most Strongholds, there’s a minimum recommended level. This one has level 45 mobs by default. Past that point, however, your enemies will be two levels higher than you.
Find the Keystones
Upon arriving at the location, you’ll notice that the main gates are barred. You’ll need to check the paths to the side for a crawlspace that lets you enter the chamber.
Inside, you’ll see several cultists that are worshiping Baal. Your objective here is to eliminate the cultists that are shielded. Doing so will let you pick up their Ritual Chamber Keystones. After obtaining all three, you’ll be able to open the doorway.
Slay Dark Cardinal Maldul
The Diablo 4 Altar of Ruin Stronghold boss is called Dark Cardinal Maldul. He’ll periodically summon various Fallen enemy mobs, which can be a hassle if you’re soloing.
In my case, as a Necromancer main, my minions were running all over the place trying to take out the Fallen hostiles. The boss also has two HP segments, which means there are two instances when it will drop orbs that will replenish your potions.
Diablo 4 Altar of Ruin Stronghold Unlocks
After defeating the boss, interact with the Wanderer Shrine to conquer the Stronghold. You’ll unlock the following:
- Sepulcher of the Forsworn dungeon: Hulking Aspect (Necromancer) – Your Golem has a 1% chance to reduce its active cooldown by two seconds, and a 1% chance to spawn a corpse each time it damages an enemy with its normal attack.
- Altar of Ruin fast travel point
