That Dragon, Cancer unintentionally released the same week cancer takes David Bowie and Alan Rickman
It has been a tough week for the world as we have lost two great talents. David Bowie and Alan Rickman both died from cancer both at the age of 69. Alan Rickman is best-known for his role as Snape from the Harry Potter series. David Bowie was an incredible musician who was certainly before his time when he came into the entertainment business.
Cancer is a horrible disease that has touched too many families around the world. It has taken lives and left unanswered questions. The game That Dragon, Cancer was released earlier this week in honor of a little boy named Joel, who would be seven today if he also fallen to cancer. Ryan and Amy Green, Joel's parents, made the game to explore the struggle, horror, and helplessness they experienced in their son's cancer. The game intimately delivers the good moments, the bad moments, and then the tragic death.
Games like this remind us that grieving is a natural process of loss. There are many ways to grieve and this was Ryan and Amy’s beautiful way grieving.
The community at GameSkinny gives our condolences to the families of David Bowie, Alan Rickman, and Joel Green.
