Borderlands 3 has just received its most requested feature: crossplay. The feature is now live by way of the game's latest update, though not for every platform.

Borderlands 3 crossplay functionality has been added for PC, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia. However, crossplay will not be available on PlayStation consoles. Despite receiving a next-gen upgrade from PS4 to PS5 at the tail end of 2020, players on those systems won't be able to team up with friends or other players on PC, Mac, Xbox, or Stadia.

While Borderlands 3 crossplay is a feature many PlayStation players want, it's still not clear if the functionality will ever appear on the platform. Sony however does want crossplay for their platform and across the industry, according to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan.

In a recent interview with Axios Ryan directly stated that "we support and encourage crossplay" before noting that many popular titles like Call of DutyFortniteRocket League, and Minecraft all support crossplay, with Destiny 2 set to be added to that list later on this year.

The update available to all players also increases the level cap and allows players to return to previous season quests that can now be accessed whenever they like, rather than only being available for a limited time. Check out the Borderlands blog for more on the update, including bug fixes and more.

Arms Race Mode Confirmed for Borderlands 3's Second Season Pass https://www.gameskinny.com/7901f/arms-race-mode-confirmed-for-borderlands-3s-second-season-pass https://www.gameskinny.com/7901f/arms-race-mode-confirmed-for-borderlands-3s-second-season-pass Fri, 30 Oct 2020 14:51:20 -0400 Dylan Webb

It wasn't too long ago that Gearbox Software revealed the second season pass for Borderlands 3, and we're starting to see what that second season pass will consist of.

During the initial announcement for the second season pass, an Arms Race Mode was confirmed but details remained vague. As part of the latest episode of The Borderlands Show, though, we finally got a look at just what that Arms Race Mode will entail.

You can see the official trailer below.

Coming in as the first half of the "Directors Cut" add-on for Borderlands 3 (the second half is yet to be revealed), this expansion works as a "roguelike experience," seeing players dropped into an isolated map on Pandora, stripped of their existing weapons and skills.

Working inside an area known as the Stormblind Complex, players will be thrust into a battle royale of sorts, with Stormblind Complex including a weather system called the "Murdercane," which restricts player access to certain parts of the map.

The aim, as you may have guessed, is quite simple: grab as much gear as you can. But to obtain the best items possible in Arms Race, players will need to take down high-level enemies. With roguelike elements, you can expect this gear won't be easily obtainable and that you'll die quite often trying to get it.

We'll have to wait until November 10 for further information on Arms Race Mode, but stay tuned to GameSkinny as we learn more about this upcoming expansion.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker Halloween: Haunted Frontier

\n

Hardspace: Shipbreaker's Halloween event is Haunted Frontier, full of spooky haunted ships that put your bravery — and desire for salvage — to the test.

\n

The update, which is live now on Steam, turns any ship into a potential ghost ship. Things start deteriorating as you gather materials and fend off rogue AI nodes. Lights flicker on and off. Air gets sucked out of the room. And somewhere deep in the ship, unsettling sounds can be heard...

\n

Should you make it out alive, you can show off your hard-earned rewards with new stickers and badges.

PUBG Mobile Infection Mode

\n

PUBG Mobile's Infection Mode is back from the dead from now until November 9, with new content, themes, costumes, and plenty of zombies.

\n

Infection Mode's classic combat returns, pitting a team of Defenders against a team of Zombies in an all-or-nothing fight. Zombies — sporting Halloween masks, if you so choose —  can only use melee attacks, but fallen Defenders transform into Zombies with chances for form shifts and stat buffs.

\n

If it all gets too much for the Defenders, they transform into Vanquishers when their team is down to three members. Foes they vanquish can't be resurrected.

World of Tanks Halloween — Burning Games

\n

Free-to-play war game World of Tanks is hosting the Burning Games Halloween event until October in partnership with Korn and their new video for "Finally Free." It's a chance for Tier V and higher vehicles to complete challenges and earn special items and take part in the new Wasteland map.

\n

In World of Tanks Wasteland, tanks start with 1 HP and have to attack others to replenish it. Players can attack allies to restore teammates' health, and respawning increases the tank's overall power.

\n

From October 16 through October 31, players can join The Way of the Raider 60-stage event to earn XP, camo, and the two new tanks featured in Korn's music video.

\n

Finally, from October 24 through October 31, World of Tanks brings back Mad Games, a limited-time chance to outfit your tanks with the wildest abilities possible.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020

\n

Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 runs from October 23 at 9 p.m. EST through November 3 at the same time and offers the first chance to get your hands on Galarian Yamask among other things.

\n

Completing the Halloween Special Research "A Spooky Message Unmasked" gets you one step closer to finding both Galarian Yamask and Spiritomb. Other Field Research tasks will also center around Halloween themes during the event.

\n

Ghost-type Pokemon will be more common in the wild, in Raids, and in Eggs. You might even find a costumed Gengar in Raids or hatch a Sableye in costume if you're lucky.

\n

Talking of Raids, Darkrai takes center stage for five-star Raids, but there's more Halloween Raid goodness in store.

\n

On October 31 from 11 a.m. local time through 5 p.m. local time, there's a higher chance Alolan Marowak will show up in Raids.

\n

There's a special Halloween Cup from October 26 at 4 p.m. EST through the end of the event where only Poison, Dark, Bug, Ghost, and Fairy Pokemon can compete, and they have to have less than 1,500 CP.

\n

It just wouldn't be Halloween without costumes. Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 amps up the costume game with a Gengar onesie, Sableye goggles, Pikachu mask, and more, along with bundles in the in-game shop.

\n

Finally, there's an all-new event on October 26, the Catch Mastery event, which we cover in more detail elsewhere.

Dreams Halloween

\n

If you're looking for a more atmospheric experience, Dreams' Halloween event, All Hallows' Dreams, may be for you. The whole thing is user-generated, like the rest of Dreams, and All Hallows' Dreams pops up at the top of the world list when you boot the game up.

\n

Choosing it takes you to a dream world with different scary mansions to explore.

\n

Some are reportedly very scary indeed, though they have their biggest frights confined to the upper floors. Others are just fun, creepy haunted houses to explore, complete with pumpkins carved by other Dreams players and a costume zone.

Call of Duty Halloween 2020 — Haunting of Verdansk

\n

Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare share a Halloween event in 2020: Haunting of Verdansk. The event runs from October 20 through November 3. It's a multi-pronged event featuring crossovers with SAW and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but some of it does come at a cost.

\n

If you want the film crossover treats, you'll have to shell out for the SAW and Chainsaw Massacre bundles, both of which include skins, items, and weapons inspired by their respective franchises.

\n

Activision promised more Halloween-themed bundles for the in-game store, including the new Dr. Karlov bundle focused on regional Verdansk folklore and a Grim Reaper bundle.

\n

In addition to Trick or Treat crates with Halloween items galore, Haunting of Verdansk adds night modes to event maps, zombie battle royale, scavenger hunts, and much, much more.

Overcooked! 2  Moon Harvest Festival

\n

Overcooked! 2's Halloween celebration isn't technically Halloween-themed. It's in honor of harvest and autumn celebrations throughout eastern Asia, but it's fall-ish, so it works.

\n

Better yet, it's a free update with no end time, and the content will appear in Overcooked! All You Can Eat for next-gen consoles.

Overcooked! 2's Moon Harvest Festival introduces new kitchens themed around water and lily pad obstacles. There are five new levels total, plus three succulent-looking mooncakes to add to the menu.

Borderlands 3 Halloween — Bloody Harvest Returns

\n

Borderlands 3's Bloody Harvest Halloween event is back for October 2020. The ghoulish festivities run through November 5, and it's easier than ever to get your hands on some sweet, ghastly gear.

\n

To kick things off, head to Sanctuary III, and speak with Maurice. Maurice tasks you with collecting Hecktoplasm from haunted enemies, easily spotted by their ghostly green glow.

\n

Defeating haunted enemies spawns specters you'll need to defeat as well, and that's when you finally get ahold of Hecktoplasm.

After collecting enough of Hecktoplasm, Maurice opens the gate to Heck, where you can chat with Captain Haunt to access a number of quests, through which you'll earn Bloody Harvest items and cosmetics.

This year, the Bloody Harvest quests are less demanding than before, making it easier to get loot.

    \n
  • 4 challenges completed  “A Shrinking Feeling" weapon trinket
  • \n
  • 8 challenges completed  "Message from Beyond" ECHO Device skin

Resident Evil Resistance October Update

\n

Resident Evil Resistance has a big October update in store, which is basically a Halloween update without actually being called a Halloween update.

\n

Jill Valentine joins the ranks of the Survivors, with powerful weapons and her characteristic dodge mechanic from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake. And as is only fitting, Nemesis itself is a playable Mastermind for the first time. Players control Nemesis through playing as Nicholai, another new Mastermind.

\n

The Prison is a new map added in RE Resistance's October update, and the Uptown Raccoon City and Bemusement Park maps get a remix with new layouts.

\n

Finally is a slew of new costumes and weapon skins, Survivors' perks and customizable abilities, and Mastermind traps.

Grounded October Update

\n

Grounded’s October update adds ziplines and more to the survival game, including some Halloween-themed items. The initial announcement is relatively light on details, but players can expect decorations, recreational items, and doodads to use with friends. These include harvestable Candy Corn and a new landmark in the Frankenline, which is described as "a creepy discarded Etch-a-Sketch you can actually draw on."

Aside from washing The Backyard in a spooky glow, the October update for Grounded does a lot on the backend as well, including fixing a handful of bugs, fine-tuning combat, and unlocking new perks. You can see the full patch notes here

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath  All Hallows' Eve

\n

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is getting some Halloween goodness with the All Hallows’ Eve character skin pack. It’s available now and is free for Aftermath owners. Those who haven’t upgraded to Aftermath yet would need to purchase the expansion, which also unlocks the Summer Heat and Femme Fatale packs from earlier in 2020.

\n

Mortal Kombat 11’s All Hallows’ Eve skin pack trailer highlighted three of the included skins. One is the “Blizzard King” outfit for Sub-Zero, and then there’s the part-werewolf part-school spirit “Beast Within” skin for Johnny Cage. Then there’ “Bad Medicine” for D’Vorah, turning the Kytinn fighter into a spidery nurse from hell.

\n

It’s not certain if Warner Bros. is adding anything else to Mortal Kombat 11’s Halloween event, but we’ll update if something new turns up.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Halloween

\n

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Halloween update is available to download for free now, and it’s bringing more than just the Czar of Halloween to the island.

\n

Animal Crossing patch 1.5 paves the way for Halloween by adding Candy as an item players can purchase from the Nooklings’ store and pumpkins as growable DIY fodder.

\n

The patch 1.5 trailer shows players planting, watering, and harvesting at least four different pumpkin varieties and then using them in various Halloween-themed DIY recipes.

\n

On Halloween night (October 31), Jack himself visits the island. It’s not clear yet what he requires of the player, but all the residents will be lurking about, asking for Candy and showing off their costumes.

\n

The patch adds new skin tone options for players to look their creepy best as well. We’ll update with more information about what New Horizons Halloween brings to the table as it becomes available.

Monster Hunter: World Iceborne — Fun Fright Fest

\n

Capcom’s brewing up a special Monster Hunter: World Iceborne Halloween event called the Fun Fright Fest, part of the hefty Title Update 5. It runs from October 15 at 8 p.m. EST through November 5 at the same time and is exclusive to the expansion.

\n

The Autumn Harvest Fest is returning to the base Monster Hunter: World game, but Capcom hasn’t said much about it yet.

\n

Fun Fright Fest (starting at 7:06 in the above trailer) sees the Seliana Gathering Hub decked out with spooky furnishings, and the handler dons a Cute Demoness outfit to celebrate the occasion. There are two special ticket types to collect during the event and trade in for loot: the Fun Fright Ticket and the VIP Fun Fright Ticket.

\n

The former get doled out as daily login bonuses for the MHW Halloween event and can be used to craft armor with Decoration slots. Players can exchange the latter for in-game decorations and Layered Armor, but these are only available as random item drops. Both ticket types can be exchanged for Melding Tickets too.

\n

There’s at least one new set of armor coming to the Fun Fright Fest, Demon Lord Alpha+. Wearing pieces of this armor set increases the chance of getting VIP Fun Fright Tickets.

\n

Capcom may reveal more about Monster Hunter: World Iceborne’s Fun Fright Fest as the start date approaches, and we’ll update if that happens.

Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection

\n

It wouldn’t be Halloween without Killing Floor 2’s annual Halloween celebrations, and 2020 is no different. This year’s Halloween event is Killing Floor 2: Infernal Insurrection, and it brings treats galore, including new weapons, maps, and cosmetics.

\n

Infernal Insurrection’s new map is Hallmark Station, a twisted take on London’s famous King’s Cross Station. Hallmark Station has been overrun by zeds, of course, and players must team up with fellow mercenaries to take down the demonic threat. Hellmark Station includes Survival, Endless, and Weekly modes.

\n

Two new HRG weapons make their debut in Killing Floor 2’s Halloween event.

\n
    \n
  • HRG Scorcher (Firebug class bonus) — a flare gun that marks targets by setting them on fire
  • \n
  • HRG Arc Generator (Survivalist class bonus) — fires EMP blasts in short bursts or powerful charges
  • \n
\n

From now until November 10, Killing Floor 2 is also introducing a number of Halloween events, objectives, bonuses, and cosmetics.

Borderlands 3 Psycho Krieg Evil Lilith Boss Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/e3lb5/borderlands-3-psycho-krieg-evil-lilith-boss-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/e3lb5/borderlands-3-psycho-krieg-evil-lilith-boss-guide Fri, 18 Sep 2020 13:06:57 -0400 Sergey_3847

Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck is the latest downloadable content for Borderlands 3, adding a hefty dose of challenging content for players to best and new gear to stockpile including the new Evil Lilith boss.

Before you can fight Evil Lilith and get rewarded with some amazing legendary loot, you will need to go through a series of puzzles. In this guide we'll go over how to find Evil Lilith, and then how to defeat her.

How to Find Evil Lilith in Borderlands 3

The search for Evil Lilith starts at the beginning of the second story mission in the new DLC, titled "Siege of Castle Crimson".

In order to complete this stage you need to do the following:

  1. Speak to Psycho Krieg
  2. Find the Flesh Horn by using the portals between the platforms
  3. Blow the Flesh Horn
  4. Approach the Crimson Castle (doors are closed)
  5. Locate the first catapult nearby and shoot at the castle
  6. Fight Brick and Mordecai at the second catapult
  7. Kill some skags to get 3 skag chops
  8. Feed the skag meat to Goliath at the second catapult
  9. Put the explosives from the chest nearby in the Goliath's neck
  10. Shoot the second catapult at the moon until it falls down
  11. Pick up the moon from the crater
  12. Locate the third catapult and put the moon inside
  13. Shoot the third catapult at the castle

This will finally blow up the doors of Castle Crimson and you will be able to get inside. Once you're in the main hall, the cutscene introducing Evil Lilith will begin.

How to Beat Evil Lilith in Borderlands 3

First Phase

At the beginning of the fight Lilith will teleport around the arena, so it will be really hard to aim at her for long enough.

You need to move around as much as possible and don't expect to deal too much damage this early. Just avoid her appearing behind you, otherwise she will ground slam you.

If you can avoid her slam attack, she will move to the center of the arena and go up in the air for a much stronger ground slam attack with a damage wave.

Once again, don't expect to deal much damage to her at this point, and just move along the edges of the arena to avoid the wave.

When Lilith finally settles down on the ground and starts shooting projectiles, you can start moving closer and deal some damage to her. These projectiles are easy to dodge, since they move in a straight line.

However, when she gets damaged, she will try to chase you using the dash attack. This is a good time to avoid her again and just move towards the very edge of the arena. If you manage to keep enough distance, you will have a chance to take a few precise shots at her.

Second Phase

When you put Evil Lilith's life total below 50%, she will get more dangerous.

First, she will create massive energy orbs that may fall down on you and explode dealing massive amounts of damage. Avoid these at all costs and shoot them whenever you can to destroy.

Keep at least one orb undamaged, as there will be a short Fight For Your Life phase, when you can shoot at the orb and restore your own health.

During this phase Lilith will go up in the air and send a powerful beam of energy into the sky. She will be completely immune to damage during this phase, so use this time period to restore your own health.

Then, she will create projectiles in the air and shoot them at you. These move in random patterns, so be extra careful to avoid them. You can shoot Lilith during this phase and deplete her life to zero.

When this is done, Evil Lilith will drop some legendary loot, which may include new exclusive weapons and gear.

That's all you need to know on how to find and beat Evil Lilith boss in Psycho Krieg DLC for Borderlands 3. If you want to know how to defeat and kill Troy Calypso boss, then check out this guide. For more Borderlands 3 guides, head over to our game's hub page.

Nintendo's March Mini-Direct: Xenoblade, Borderlands, Bravely, and More https://www.gameskinny.com/jy0m2/nintendos-march-mini-direct-xenoblade-borderlands-bravely-and-more https://www.gameskinny.com/jy0m2/nintendos-march-mini-direct-xenoblade-borderlands-bravely-and-more Thu, 26 Mar 2020 11:12:36 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Surprise, there was a Nintendo Direct Mini today! It showed off quite a bit, including Xenoblade Chronicles DE, Catherine: Full Body, and Bravely Default 2. We also got news on updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as well as Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The Direct started with the expected warning that any announcements may or may not be delayed by COVID-19, so all release dates, except those games that released today, are still in flux.

Either way, we got to see some of Nintendo's upcoming games this year. Let's dive in.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

First up, we got an extended trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. The original game is excellent in itself but looks pretty dreadful. Now, we're getting a chance to see it in smooth, re-mastered glory. That means streamlined menus and controls, plus re-done music as well.

What's different from the original title? It's a new story called Future Connected starring Shulk and Melia. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition launches on May 29 and will have a special edition.

2K Games

2K Games is bringing a number of games to the Nintendo Switch. These include BioShock: The Collection, as was previously rumored, the XCOM 2 Collection, which was also rumored, and Borderlands: The Collection, which was definitely not rumored.

The Borderlands Collection on Switch, XCOM 2 Collection on Switch, and BioShock: The Collection on Switch all launch May 29.

For reference, BioShock: The Collection contains all the BioShock games, while the Borderlands collection contains the first two games and the prequel.

Bravely Default 2

After getting an announcement during last year's The Game Awards, Bravely Default 2 finally got some more information during today's Mini-Direct. Like the original, it focuses on the four traditional elements and four new Heroes of Light, but it takes place on a completely new continent.

The hero, Seth, washes up on the shores of an unknown kingdom and meets Gloria, a princess who fled from her kingdom after it was ransacked by those seeking its crystal. The other two party members are Elvis and Adelle, mysterious wanderers trying to unlock the secrets of a strange book.

The Asterisk-based job system returns, with familiar classes like Black Mage and Thief. More importantly, the series' signature Brave Point system returns. It doesn't seem like anything's different this time around, but we guess if it's not broken, don't fix it.

What is different is the job system. You can combine jobs at any time to customize how your characters develop.

Bravely Default 2 adopts Bravely Default's art style, smooths it out, and makes it even more detailed. A demo is available now, but there's no word on a release date outside of just 2020.

Shinsekai: Into the Depths

Capcom is creating a new deep-sea exploration game called Shinsekai: Into the Depths. You'll explore a range of colorful underwater areas full of puzzles and monsters. You'll need to keep track of your oxygen and a number of other factors along the way as you uncover the truth of what happened to humanity. Sound interesting? Good, because Shinsekai is available now.

Panzer Dragoon Remake

One big surprise was Panzer Dragoon Remake. We knew it was coming soon, but it turns out, soon means today. Panzer Dragoon Remake is out sometime later today, March 26, on Nintendo Switch as a timed exclusive.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update

We already knew Animal Crossing: New Horizons was getting a holiday update, but we got to see it in action with the latest Direct. Bunny Day starts April 1 and ends April 12. Along with the usual Egg Hunt, you'll get the chance to craft unique seasonal items during the event, too.

Another update is coming at the end of April introducing new elements like Earth Day and, it seems, Leaf.

Catherine: Full Body

Catherine: Full Body was rumored alongside the XCOM 2 Collection a while ago, and it's actually true as well. You'll take control of Vincent, a hapless young man in a dark love triangle, making choices about your love life by day and trying to survive a deadly block tower full of puzzles at night. Catherine: Full Body launches on Nintendo Switch on July 7.

Ring Fit Adventure Update

Ring Fit Adventure is getting an update. Not only is your Ring companion getting a voice and changeable languages, but Ring Fit Adventure is introducing a rhythm mode. Among other things, it'll feature music from Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2.

For more on Ring Fit Adventure, check out our review

King's Bounty 2

King's Bounty 2 is coming to the Switch. It's a tactical fantasy RPG emphasizing your choices in each scenario and featuring lovely realistic graphics. How you interact with characters determines how their ethics and choice systems develop over the course of the game.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate New DLC Fighter

The first DLC Fighter in Smash Ultimate's second DLC pass is coming from ARMS, but it's not quite ready yet. The reveal is coming in June, as is the fighter.

Clubhouse Games

Traditional tabletop fans rejoice: Clubhouse Games is coming to Switch, and it has an insane number of games in it (well, 51, but it's still a lot). From Toy Boxing and Curling to 6-Ball Puzzle, Hanafuda, and Backgammon, Clubehouse Games has something for anyone. You can play alone, in local co-op, or online. Clubhouse Games launches June 5 and is open for pre-purchase today.

Ninjala

Ninjala was first announced a few years back, and we're finally seeing it in action. It's a free-to-play game where you use your ninjutsu skills to prove you're the best ninja around.

Along with inherent skills, you'll be using a myriad of weapons, from hammers to katanas. You can team up with other ninjas to work together as a clan if you don't want to go it alone when Ninjala launches on May 27.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass

We also got some more new information about the Pokemon Sword and Shield expansion pass, this time about the Isle of Armor. We saw the dojo first shown off a few months ago, where you get to obtain legendary Kubfu if you train at the dojo.

You'll get permission to challenge the Tower of Two fists as well, either the Tower of Darkness or the Tower of Water. You can only choose one, and the one you choose determines which form Kubfu evolves into.

The starters' Gigantamax forms also got some attention, basically just showing each one's special G-Max moves. Isle of Armor introduces new league card effects and new accessory and clothing items too. If you pre-purchase the expansion pass before August 31, you can get Leon's outfit too.

Finally was the latest Wild area news. Pokemon Shield players can find Gigantamax Garbador and Charizard, while Sword players get Duraludon and Copperajah.

---

That's it for the Mini-Direct recap. It was short, but crammed full of information about games we can (hopefully) expect to see between now and the end of July. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more upcoming Nintendo Switch game news as it develops.

Fast paced multiplayer titles like the third Borderlands are seeing a big bump in online matchmaking as gamers stay home in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent Steam release doesn't help it much, either.

Unfortunately, that increased usage and heavy player load means server problems are starting to crop up and many players are experiencing issues with SHiFT server connectivity.

Check out the latest update straight from the development team below. A new patch to help connectivity problems is expected to arrive later today. For now, your best bet is to stay on top of the SHiFT Status Twitter account for an official update on when the servers will again be live.

If the servers are back online and you are still having a problem, your best bet is to submit a ticket to Gearbox here.

Note that due to the increased strain on servers in recent weeks, you may be experiencing a problem with your specific platform rather than Borderlands 3 itself. Before firing off an angry Tweet, be sure to check out the DownDetector status for these services:

In other Borderlands 3 news, the upcoming DLC Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock arrives on March 26, 2020.

We've also now confirmed that Hostel-director Eli Roth is onboard to helm an upcoming Borderlands feature film. Stay tuned for more news on that movie and Borderlands 3 coming soon!

Just can't get enough of vault hunting with 1 billion guns? There's more Borderlands 3 content on the horizon with the impending release of a Cthulhu-themed DLC.

Your vault hunter can team up with old friends and eerie new ones to help true love triumph over eldritch horror when Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock arrives on March 26, 2020.

Check out the typically ludicrous teaser trailer above. Guns, Love, and Tentacles isn't the only collision of comedy and horror the series has seen, following a long, ridiculous tradition from past titles.

Horror-themed DLC has been a staple of the series since the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned expansion to the original Borderlands. The sequel further cemented the love-gone-wrong angle with Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre.

Are you excited to see Wainwright & Hammerlock get hitched while dealing with tentacled eldritch monstrosities? Sound off in the comments below!

There may be more horror coming to the Borderlands universe soon, as it was recently confirmed that torture porn aficionado Eli Roth has been tapped to direct the upcoming Borderlands movie

Eli Roth Confirmed as Borderlands Movie Director https://www.gameskinny.com/e2cew/eli-roth-confirmed-as-borderlands-movie-director https://www.gameskinny.com/e2cew/eli-roth-confirmed-as-borderlands-movie-director Fri, 21 Feb 2020 11:14:49 -0500 GS_Staff

Horror film director and writer Eli Roth will helm the Borderlands movie. The news was confirmed by Lionsgate late Thursday after rumors circulated earlier in the day, stemming from a deleted tweet from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.

Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) joins Avi Arad (Blade), Ari Arad (Ghost Rider), and Erik Feig (Wrong Turn) on the film. Pitchford and Take-Two Interactive Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick will executive produce.

Following the news, Roth posted an update on Twitter and Instagram, saying that he is so excited to be a part of the Borderlands family, and that he can't wait to see everyone on Pandora.

In another later statement, Roth said the ambitious project comes at a good place in his career and that his relationship with Lionsgate is the perfect scenario to help bring the film to fruition.

I’m so excited to dive into the world of Borderlands, and I could not be doing it with a better script, producing team and studio. I have a long, successful history with Lionsgate — I feel like we have grown up together and that everything in my directing career has led to a project of this scale and ambition.

The Borderlands movie was first announced in 2015, but it has been in a sort of limbo ever since. The latest game in the FPS RPG franchise was Borderlands 3, which released in September 2019.

We mostly enjoyed the game, calling it "one of the best looter-shooter experiences on the market today. No other game can boast the amount of loot, nor the satisfaction of acquiring it all."

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more on the Borderlands franchise, including the now upcoming movie, as it breaks.

Borderlands Movie May Be Getting a Very Unexpected Director https://www.gameskinny.com/d7ds3/borderlands-movie-may-be-getting-a-very-unexpected-director https://www.gameskinny.com/d7ds3/borderlands-movie-may-be-getting-a-very-unexpected-director Thu, 20 Feb 2020 13:18:54 -0500 Ty Arthur

It looks like none other than Hostel and Green Inferno director Eli Roth may be helming the upcoming Borderlands movie. The news comes by way of a tweet from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.

The tweet was quickly deleted after coming online, indicating this info may not have been cleared for release until the Gearbox Pax East show later this month  or that Roth's hiring may not have been finalized yet.

While a director most well known for horror torture porn might raise some eyebrows, Roth's inclusion may not be so surprising to others considering violence and dark humor have always been central to the Borderlands series.

Here's a screenshot of Pitchford's tweet for posterity.

Borderland's CEO Randy Pitchford's tweet about Eli Roth and the Borderlands movie.

Tiny Tina and her disturbingly amazing quotes could be a minefield to navigate when transferred to live-action, but other portions of the games would certainly translate well to the big screen.

We don't know many details on the story, characters, or filming date at this point, although we did already get something of an interactive Borderlands movie with Telltale's adaptation Tales From The Borderlands.

Video game movie adaptations have typically been panned, though we've seen a sudden resurgence in high-quality TV shows like Castlevania and The Witcher. The former is about to get a third season, while Season 2 of The Witcher is now in development and will include some unexpected new characters.

Borderlands 3 Update Unlocks Level Cap, Lets You Skip Cutscenes https://www.gameskinny.com/9hxym/borderlands-3-update-unlocks-level-cap-lets-you-skip-cutscenes https://www.gameskinny.com/9hxym/borderlands-3-update-unlocks-level-cap-lets-you-skip-cutscenes Tue, 11 Feb 2020 16:09:43 -0500 GS_Staff

Borderlands 3 has gotten steady content fixes and updates since it launched back in September. While we haven't covered them all, this one is significant for two reasons: it increases the level cap, and it finally lets us skip cutscenes. Properly.

Seems like we're going to have to finally update our guide on skipping cutscenes since it's completely irrelevant now...

Anyway, the update for Borderlands 3 lands on February 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It raises the level cap from 50 to 53. According to a post on the official Borderlands 3 blog, the increase will come with three skill points for players to use as they see fit.

Perhaps more importantly (to some players), the patch will introduce the ability to skip cutscenes. It won't matter if players have seen cutscenes before or not. With the new update, every cutscene in the game can be skipped.

Other highlights from the update include True Takedown Mode, Guardian Rank toggling, event toggling, Fight for Your Life improvements, Mayhem 2.0, and Echocast extensions for Twitch. Of course, the normal bug and stability fixes make an appearance as well.

All of this comes ahead of the game's Valentine's Day event, Broken Hearts Day.

The full rundown of upcoming changes can be seen on the official Borderlands 3 blog. Gearbox is teasing "more to come at PAX East," so be sure to stay tuned to GameSkinny for more big Borderlands 3 news as it develops.

Borderlands 3 DLC, Moxxi's Heist of The Handsome Jackpot, Gets Gameplay Trailer https://www.gameskinny.com/ntin5/borderlands-3-dlc-moxxis-heist-of-the-handsome-jackpot-gets-gameplay-trailer https://www.gameskinny.com/ntin5/borderlands-3-dlc-moxxis-heist-of-the-handsome-jackpot-gets-gameplay-trailer Thu, 05 Dec 2019 14:25:06 -0500 Jason Coles

The first bit of Borderlands 3 DLC is out on December 19, and it's called Moxxi's Heist of The Handsome Jackpot. To celebrate it, Gearbox has released a playthrough of the first 13 minutes of the expansion. Moxxi's Heist is the first of four planned campaign add-ons and is included in the Borderlands 3 season pass.

The DLC sees our intrepid Vault Hunters getting their Ocean's Eleven on as part of Moxxi's plan to rob a derelict space station casino. Needless to say, stealth probably won't be a big part of this particular heist, so you can expect more explosions and lasers than anything else.

It's all detailed in this blog post over on the mothership site, which also describes some of the purchases you can make if you haven't already bought Borderlands 3 or season pass.

If you're wondering what we thought of Borderlands 3, then you should head on over to our review to read our thoughts. We enjoyed it a fair bit, though maybe that should be behind a spoiler warning if you're waiting to read it.

Nevertheless, Borderlands 3 has already seen a few additions thanks to free updates, including a raid of sorts and an even harder difficulty mode. So it could be a great time to get into the game.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more news and information on Borderlands 3 as it breaks.

Some truly amazing games came out in 2019. From monolithic AAAs like Gears 5 and Pokemon Sword and Shield to unassuming indies like Wattam and Disco Elysium, the last year of the decade hasn't left us wanting.

To celebrate the year that was, we've collected our highest-reviewed games of 2019 into a pseudo "best of" list. We're a small staff at GameSkinny, so going the traditional "staff voting route" didn't really make a whole lot of sense. The most democratic way to make a list like this was to include any game with a score of "8" or higher.

Such a rubric might not be perfect as it leaves out some of the year's tentpole titles like Modern Warfare and Death Stranding, but a list like this is never perfect. It will always create some form of controversy.

So without further ado, here is GameSkinny's "Best Games of 2019" list. We have arranged the following games in alphabetical order. Be sure to sound off in the comments at the end of the article. We're certain you will have thoughts — and we want to hear them!

Best Buy Black Friday 2019 Video Game Deals https://www.gameskinny.com/jwfcq/best-buy-black-friday-2019-video-game-deals https://www.gameskinny.com/jwfcq/best-buy-black-friday-2019-video-game-deals Fri, 08 Nov 2019 15:21:09 -0500 Josh Broadwell

Following on from Target's early release of its Black Friday ad, Best Buy has made its own ad available, full of video game sales you won't want to miss.

We don't cover tech of movie deals in this piece, instead opting to focus on all of the console and video game deals in the ad. This includes online sales and doorbusters.

We also have Black Friday roundups for PSN, Microsoft, GameStop, and Walmart

Best Buy Black Friday 2019

This list is based on the preliminary deals Best Buy announced ahead of time, so it's likely to be adjusted and updated as the outlet announces more sales, and it's just Black Friday — no Cyber Monday or weekend deals are included.

We break things down by console and price. We start with console deals (including PSVR) and follow things up with the best deals on games by console.

Video Game Consoles

Best Buy has some of the same deals on consoles as Target, though Best Buy favors Xbox One for variety and has no free gift cards thrown in.

PlayStation 4

  • PlayStation 4 Slim (1TB), DualShock Wireless Control, and three free games — $199.99. The games shown are listed below.
    • The Last of Us Remastered

  • Shenmue III — $34.99

Borderlands 3 Spooky Heads: How to Get the Scary Halloween Masks https://www.gameskinny.com/94thl/borderlands-3-spooky-heads-how-to-get-the-scary-halloween-masks https://www.gameskinny.com/94thl/borderlands-3-spooky-heads-how-to-get-the-scary-halloween-masks Wed, 30 Oct 2019 18:30:35 -0400 GS_Staff

The festivities surrounding Borderlands 3's anniversary event might be dying down, but that doesn't mean there aren't still some treats to be had. Just in time for Halloween, the Spooky Surprise in Borderlands 3 is quadfecta (yes, it's a real word) of spooky heads. Specifically, they're four masks for each of the game's four vault hunters.

The masks are available between now and November 5 at midnight PST/ 3 a.m. EST. To unlock them, all you have to do is enter the following SHiFT code:

  • K9W3T-BJZ59-B9SHB-6B3JT-T9CFF

Borderlands 3 spooky heads Halloween vault hunter masks for Fl4k, Amara, Moze, and Zane

Using the SHiFT code above before the cut-off time on November 5 puts all four masks into your inventory for good. Even if Halloween only comes once a year, you'll have these spooky masks to scare fellow players with all year round.

Fl4k plays punk-rock Frankenstein while Moze goes Sweet Tooth adjacent with a creepy as hell clown mask straight out of Twisted Metal. Amara becomes an undead Bandido w/deadly hat and Zane gets the coolest transition of all into a heavy-metal werewolf.

So what are you waiting for? Copy that SHiFT code above and redeem it right now! What better way to spend Halloween night than scaring the hell out of your enemies (and buddies) with these Borderlands 3 spooky heads?

The Outer Worlds, CoD Modern Warfare Included in Amazon's B2G1 Sale https://www.gameskinny.com/xzokp/the-outer-worlds-cod-modern-warfare-included-in-amazons-b2g1-sale https://www.gameskinny.com/xzokp/the-outer-worlds-cod-modern-warfare-included-in-amazons-b2g1-sale Mon, 28 Oct 2019 16:29:56 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Amazon is holding one of its Buy 2, Get 1 Free sales this week. Quite a few big titles are included in the sale this time around — and new ones at that.

Chief among the offerings in this week's sale are The Outer Worlds and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (the uh, modern one), both of which released just last week. There are plenty of other gems from this year, too, as well as old favorites.

To make things easy, we've collected a short list of some of the most notable games available during the sale. We don't currently know how long the sale will last, though it's a safe bet it'll last until the end of the week.

Note that the Amazon page says "Buy 3 Items, Get 1 Item(s) Free," though it's a trifle misleading. The third item is the free one; you don't need to buy four items total.

Here's a brief overview of what's included in the sale:

Game Platform
The Outer Worlds PS4
CoD: Modern Warfare PS4
Crash Team Racing PS4
Resident Evil 2  PS4/XB1
Code Vein PS4
Borderlands 3  PS4/XB1
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch PS4
Resident Evil: Origins Collection Switch
No Man's Sky XB1
Devil May Cry 5 PS4
Killer Queen Black Switch
Trine 4 PS4
Madden 20 PS4
Ace Combat 7 PS4
Mortal Kombat 11 XB1

The full list, which includes over 60 games, can be found over on Amazon. Meanwhile, PS4 owners should check out Sony's Halloween Sale for more spooky savings before they disappear like phantasms in the first light of dawn.

It's that time again: Borderlands 3 is getting a new update today, and Gearbox has released the official patch notes detailing all of the changes.

Most of the changes in the latest patch deal with squashing bugs and working through stability issues. While it's not all that glamorous this week, Gearbox offset those doldrums with the reveal of an update roadmap.

Those are a lot of notes to take in, and we're still hard at work addressing reported issues in Borderlands 3. But given that we're just about a month out from Borderlands 3's launch, we'd like to take this opportunity to outline our plans for future updates, including some of the community's most frequently requested changes.

There can always be unforeseen challenges when working on patches and hotfixes, so we'll keep you posted on more concrete release timings as these updates continue to progress. Here's a look at some of the things we're working to implement in future patches.

Performance and Stability

Game performance and stability continue to be our top priorities. The first fruits of that labor will be released in our upcoming November patch, with various improvements game-wide.

We've also been hard at work improving the game's stability and more improvements in this regard are expected to be included in the November patch. Performance and stability will continue to be an ongoing effort with more fixes rolled out with each upcoming patch.

The Bank

Expanding the bank has been the most consistently requested feature by the community. We've heard you loud and clear and the groundwork for expanding the bank has already started. The first of several planned expansions will coincide with the release of Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite.

Expect a significant bank expansion that will more than double the existing space. Additional expansions to the bank will continue to be rolled out over future releases.

Dedicated Loot Pools for Bosses

Several of you have stated a desire to find gear more easily in the game. To do that we are updating the loot pools (the data that determines what in-game items drop) to ensure that more specific gear drops from bosses.

That means you'll be able to go to a specific boss to get the specific gear you're looking for. We're working out which bosses get which gear right now and expect this to be ready as part of the November patch as well.

Character Buffs

In the late stages of the game when Mayhem Mode is active, we've found that player companions (Moze's Iron Bear, FL4K's pets, and Zane's Digi-Clone/SNTL) are reportedly not performing as well as we had expected.

To address this, we're looking at how to adjust damage according to the relevant skills and gear. The goal here is to make sure we have as many viable character builds as possible.

Additional Mayhem Levels and Mayhem 2.0

Mayhem Mode has been a fantastic addition to the Borderlands world. After receiving some great community feedback, we've been hard at work on a significant revamp that will introduce a host of improvements over several upcoming updates.

The first update will be released as part of the Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite and includes the first new Mayhem Mode level, Mayhem 4. Expect a significant challenge when it debuts, with tougher enemies that reward players with highly synergized character builds. A new batch of Legendary gear will also only drop while in Mayhem 4 to reward those players who are truly up for the challenge.

Longer-term we have plans to overhaul Mayhem Mode with more UI support, new Mayhem Modifiers that change gameplay more dramatically, Mayhem playlists, new rewards, and additional levels of Mayhem to work through. We're excited about Mayhem 2.0 and we'll talk more about it when we get a little closer to its release.

Vending Machines

Marcus heard the outcry for more vending machines, so we're airdropping in some more across multiple maps. Expect new ammo and health vending machines outside of a few boss arenas and a few in some of the bigger environments. Below are the locations where the new vending machines will be appearing:

  • Athenas
  • Atlas HQ
  • Skywell-27
  • Lectra City
  • Jakobs Estate
  • Voracious Canopy
  • Tazendeer Ruins
  • The Pyre of Stars
Skippable Cinematics

We're currently investigating the best way to approach letting players skip cutscenes. This is much easier said than done. Under the hood, the game may activate critical events based on cinematics.

In order to make sure mission progression isn't negatively impacted, we need to inspect each cinematic and make sure those events still work correctly. We have a few ideas on how to tackle this problem and expect to have a solution soon.

Target Dummy

Need an easier way to test your gear? We're going to add a target dummy to the shooting range on Sanctuary III! We feel this is the best location since your bank is also on the ship.

This way you can manage and test your builds on Sanctuary III without having to travel anywhere else. You can expect to see this sometime in December.

That's it for this week's Borderlands 3 patch notes. For future Borderlands 3 updates, be sure to check back with GameSkinny each Thursday. Happy hunting!

How to Dupe Weapons and Items in Borderlands 3 https://www.gameskinny.com/hc8wd/how-to-dupe-weapons-and-items-in-borderlands-3 https://www.gameskinny.com/hc8wd/how-to-dupe-weapons-and-items-in-borderlands-3 Wed, 23 Oct 2019 10:43:56 -0400 Sergey_3847

One of the best ways to make extra money in Borderlands 3 is to sell duplicates of expensive items. If you want to know how to dupe weapons and mods by exploiting a simple glitch, then keep reading our guide below.

This glitch can be achieved in two different ways: one is specific to consoles, and another is specific to PC. Each of the methods will take you no longer than five minutes, so it's a really quick way to make a lot of extra cash until it's ultimately patched.

Method 1: For PS4 and Xbox One

Before duplicating any items in Borderlands 3, you obviously need to own them first. Once you have what you want to dupe, make sure that you have free slots in your inventory. When all is done, you can follow this procedure:

  1. Ask one of your friends to head to Sanctuary
  2. Let them create a host game and join it
  3. Once you are in, open your vault
  4. Select the Deposit tab
  5. Hover over the item you want to duplicate
  6. Spam the Deposit button
    • "X" on PS4
    • "A" on Xbox One

By spamming the Deposit button, the item will duplicate itself. You will see another copy of it appearing in your vault.

Method 2: For PC

The method on PC is slightly different and involves duplicating your save files before anything else. Here's what you need to do first:

  1. Go to "/Documents/My Games/Borderlands 3/Saved/SaveGames/" folder
  2. Copy the "1.sav" file, and save it somewhere else

Afterward. you can start duplicating items in Borderlands 3 by following this sequence:

  1. Ask your friend to host a game and join it
  2. Once you're in, drop the item(s) you wish to dupe on the floor
  3. Quit the game
  4. Take your saved "1.sav" file from before and replace the new "1.sav" file in the same folder
  5. Restart Borderlands 3

As a result, you will have an item you've dropped previously on the floor and another copy in your inventory. It's a little more work on PC, but if you want to cut out some of the grinding and farming necessary for the item, it may be a worthy trade.

How to Defeat and Kill Troy in Borderlands 3 https://www.gameskinny.com/ltn4d/how-to-defeat-and-kill-troy-in-borderlands-3 https://www.gameskinny.com/ltn4d/how-to-defeat-and-kill-troy-in-borderlands-3 Tue, 22 Oct 2019 10:37:48 -0400 Sergey_3847

One of the most obnoxious bosses in Borderlands 3 is Troy Calypso. He's one half of the Calypso Twins and an evil Siren taken on at the end of the Great Vault quest. The Troy fight can be extremely dangerous if you don't know how to counter his attacks. So follow this guide to be able to kill Troy fast.

You will need to utilize the massive environment of the arena for this boss fight, as well as dodge some of Troy's fiercest attacks. So let's take a look at the fight mechanics closer now.

Best Weapons for Beating Troy

Troy is a very mobile boss. He's fast and moves constantly around the arena. This means you need a weapon that can guarantee a hit but also one that gives you enough time to dodge his attacks.

The best weapons for beating Troy are any of the Atlas manufactured assault rifles with smart bullets, such as Carrier or Rebel Yell. These weapons will let you shoot Troy without even looking at him.

Another option is to use weapons that deal elemental damage. Troy is especially vulnerable to Radiation damage but Corrosive or Shock damage also work pretty well.

To kill Troy with elemental weapons, try one of these weapons:

  • Cloud Kill
  • Flakker
  • Rowan's Call
  • Cutsman

Lastly, if you're using grenade mods, it is best to use mods with elemental damage, such as the Hex grenade mod, which has five different modes for dealing with Troy:

  • MIRV: Grenade splits into three pieces on impact.
  • MIRV-Tacular: Grenade splits into six pieces on impact.
  • Cloning: Grenade splits into two halves shortly after being thrown.
  • Mitosis: Grenade splits into three parts shortly after being thrown.
  • Recurring: Has the effects of both MIRV and Mitosis.

How to Kill Troy Calypso

Now that you know which weapons to use against him, you can start applying all of your arsenal during the actual boss battle.

Phase 1

One of the most frequent types of attacks Troy uses is the Eridium Orb blast that sends purple orbs from the center of the arena and spreads them to its edges.

It's easy to dodge the orbs if you don't stand too close to Troy. So always keep some distance from him. That way, you will be able to either jump over the shots or stand between them as they spread.

As soon as you get used to the pattern, you will easily dodge them. When you're out of the damage cone, you can shoot Troy with your weapon of choice.

Phase 2

The second phase of attack has two dashes:

  1. He will jump up in the air and try to slam you down.
  2. He will take out his sword and plunge at you from a distance.

In the first case, as he slams the ground from above, you need jump to the side. If you jump backward, you will be hurt by his orbs. So jump either left or right.

In the case of his second dash or sword plunge, you need to step to the side as soon as he gets close. Choose the side away from the sword; if he holds it in his right hand, then step aside to his left. Otherwise, he will damage you.

At the end of each dash, Troy will take a short pause, and that's the perfect moment to shoot him or throw a couple of grenades at him.

Phase 3

The final series of attacks is the hardest one because he will send several waves of Eridium Orbs at you. Some can be avoided by jumping, but others spread out at shoulder level. In this case, you will just have to find space between them.

Also, you can't really go backward during this phase; if you do, you will get damaged by the Eridium Walls that rise up along the edges of the arena. So be really, really careful during this last phase of attacks.

The best moment to deal damage to Troy during this phase is right at the beginning when he flies to the center of the arena and starts sending waves of orbs. Right before he lands, throw a few grenades in the center, so he will land on top of them. This will deal a huge amount of damage, letting you focus on avoiding the orbs and the walls.

Immunity

The last thing which should be mentioned is that between phases, Troy will be surrounded by purple energy ball that makes him completely immune to any damage.

In this case, you need to shoot four lasers on the pillars surrounding the arena, and his shield will fall down.
