Developer Twin Hearts have announced that their adorably-cute action-adventure RPG with farming sim elements, Kitaria Fables, will be releasing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, alongside the previously announced releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Kitaria Fables has yet to be given a solid release date, though it is currently dated to come out this year.

Players take on the role of a citizen of Kitaria and embark on an adventure to stop The Darkness encroaching on the bucolic setting of Thunderbunn Farm and Paw Village, saving their friends and neighbors along the way.

On top of epic-looking real-time battles that feature everything from swords to spells, players develop deep relationships with the other residents of Kitaria.

There's also much more to do in Kitaria than just adventuring off to fight monsters. Farming and crafting mechanics also play important roles in the core gameplay of Kitaria Fables, and the relationships players make with other cute characters like Ms. Apple and Shamrock are just icing on the (carrot) cake.

While we don't know a whole lot about Kitaria Fables yet, it looks to be something fans of Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons, and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin would love to settle down with.

Stay tuned for more on Kitaria Fables as we learn more later this year. Hopefully, the wait won't be too long.

PQube and Twin Hearts to Bring Kitaria Fables to Next-Gen Systems Thu, 04 Feb 2021 12:28:12 -0500 Josh Broadwell

Next-gen systems are getting a taste of farm-fresh goodness when RPG-farm-sim mix Kitaria Fables releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later in 2021. The game is also planned for release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Like Rune FactoryKitaria Fables blends RPG elements with traditional farm-sim mechanics. The player wakes up on their uncle's Thunderbunn Farm in Paw Village, but also like Rune Factory, building the farm and forging relationships is only part of the daily routine. Once the crops are cared for, it's time to hit the dungeons.

Kitaria Fables features real-time action combat, where the strength of the players' crafted equipment and items plays a significant role in how battles unfold. There's special emphasis on prep work — gathering items and hitting the shops before setting out — and even magic has to be forged at the local smithy.

The relationships nurtured with other villagers also helps determine certain stats and what bonus rewards the player gets. However, it's not clear whether Kitaria Fables includes romance and marriage options.

Kitaria Fables is expected to release sometime later in 2021.
