Why it's time to buy a Wii U
Nintendo's Wii U has clearly been a third wheel to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 according to public perception, at least in the US. This is disappointing, because the system has a lot to offer.
The GamePad and hardware itself are mocked as underpowered and not practical. It didn't help that the Wii U didn't really have a killer app at launch. Add in the fact that the Wii U has little to no third-party support, and you have an easy target.
However, since launch, the Wii U's OS has been vastly improved, the games are much higher quality, and the system has been a platform for having fun.
Although the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are deemed more gamer-centric, I believe that their is room for a Wii U in your living room. Here are three reasons why you should pick up a Wii U:
The Wii U is cheaper than both other current gen consoles. Sitting at $299.99, you can purchase a Wii U for about $50 cheaper than an Xbox One and $100 cheaper than a PlayStation 4. Add in the fact that you can get two games bundled with the console, Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land, and you have a pretty great proposition.
2. 1st Party Software
The Wii U actually has a very solid library, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, and Super Mario 3D World headlining. Add in Star Fox Zero, Super Mario Maker, and Xenoblade Chronicles X coming out this year and you have a great pool of games to start with. Especially if there are older games on Virtual Console that you haven't played yet, like Super Mario World or The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past.
3. Family Friendly
The Wii U offers a wide range of games, including many family friendly experiences. If you are looking for a console that a family with young children can enjoy, get the Wii U. Games like Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, and really any Mario or Zelda title, are family friendly. This is really important to some people, and the Wii U has more experiences that are fun for everyone regardless of age.
There you have it, three reasons to buy a Wii U. If you own the system already, comment what you like or dislike about it. If you don't own a Wii U, comment on why you haven't purchased the system.
