Final Fantasy XV

Beginning pre-production in 2006, this Final Fantasy installment has been through quite a ride. It was first developed as Final Fantasy 13 which would be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Pre-production for this game lasted 5 years with actual development starting in 2011.

After being shown the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Square Enix decided to rename the game Final Fantasy Type-0 while calling it Final Fantasy 15 internally. This caused the development to start over due to the re-branding. The game was now set to be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

There were a few staff changes made in order to ensure the game to be worked on. After worrying about the PlayStation 3's viability, Square Enix decided to fully focus on the next-gen versions of the game, cancelling the PlayStation 3 version of the game. Full development of the game began in 2012.

While Final Fantasy 15 has had a long development process, Square Enix never gave up. Final Fantasy 15 will be releasing for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 30,  2016.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

After making you rise through the ranks in South Park: Stick of Truth, Ubisoft is back with South Park: The Fractured But Whole (say it fast).

Instead of living in a world of wizards and elves, you will take on the world of comic books. Cartman is trying to create a comic-book franchise to build a billion dollar movie universe just like Marvel Studios. But when some of his friends aren't happy that they are only getting a Netflix series and not a movie, it begins a Civil War (even though that's not supposed to happen until Phase 3).

South Park: The Fractured But Whole (haha) is set to be released on December 6, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky is an adventure, survival game developed by Hello Games. No Man's Sky has been known for not having an end. In the game, you can visit different planets that have their own unique environment.

On the planets, you collect resources to attack and defend yourself from the creatures you come across. Hello Games has mentioned previously that they believe 99.9% of the planets in the game will be undiscovered by the players.

The game was originally planned to be released in June but it has been delayed until August 9. It will be released on PC and PlayStation 4.

Battlefield 1 & Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

You can't escape a year without having a new shooter from Activision and EA.

This year, EA will be releasing Battlefield 1. Battlefield 1 takes place during the World War 1 and will allow the player to take the battlefield and shoot the enemy in trench warfare. You will be able to use flamethrowers, mustard gas, trench clubs, tanks and horses to defeat the enemy.

Going up against Battlefield 1 is Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare by Activision and Infinity Ward. Infinite Warfare introduces a new place for you to get your shooting on, outer space!

Also included with this years entry is a new Zombies campaign. If you purchase the Legacy, Digital Deluxe or Legacy Pro of the game, you will receive Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered. With this remaster, the whole campaign is remastered along with 10 multiplayer maps.

Battlefield 1 will be released October 21st. Infinite Warfare will be released November 4th. Both games will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Overwatch

Last but not least, Overwatch

If you weren't interested in any of the previous games, Overwatch will always be there for you. Released in May of this year, Overwatch is an online objective based shooter. Pick from 21 heroes and work with your team to capture the objectives in order to win the game. Blizzard mentioned that new maps and possibly new characters will be released at the end of this year so your Overwatch fun will never end.

If you need some tips to ensure that victory, you can find that right here.

Overwatch is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
